“Very satisfied”
My fiance and I had a wonderful time at this beautiful, historic hotel. It was clean, unique, and spooky in a good way.
“Great view”
Because it is an historic hotel, our room was a lttle small and the shower was a little hard to regulate. But this was a small price to pay for a great hotel and a wonderful stay.
“"Not Impressed"”
The bath room were so small you had to stand in the door way to shave. The floor was so unlevle the bed was 3in. lower on one side. We called for a bellboy to help with luggage,it took 45min. to get there.
“Loved the Crescent- ghosts and all!”
We had a wonderful time at the Crescent. Full of history and great stories, great staff and services. Easy to get transportation. Felt safe and secure.
“Awesome experience!”
We stayed at the 1886 Crescent Hotel over Memorial Day weekend. our stay was everything we could have asked for! We stayed in a King room with balcony. Our balcony was right off our room and had several chairs to sit and enjoy the day outside. It was a huge balcony shared with 3 other rooms. There was so much space that we never felt like our privacy was being intruded upon. The room was clean and very comfortable. Victorian furnishings and extremely high ceilings made us feel like royalty! We went there on kind of a ghost hunting goof. I definitely didn't want to encounter any, but my husband did. Fortunately, we did not experience any supernatural activity personally. Our folks staying down the hall, did though! We learned of some previously reported experiences with a female ghost that likes to play with women's jewelry. My mom's jewelry box got messed with both nights we were there. It ended up on the bathroom floor, turned upside down, with no disturbance to the jewelry. The thing that made it spooky is that the jewelry box was originally sitting underneath another cosmetics bag. While the jewelry box was on the ground, the cosmetics bag remained undisturbed... creeepy!! Overall, the staff was great. Breakfast both mornings was delicious! Dr. Baker's Bar on the 4th floor is a great location to have a drink and admire the beautiful views. We would definitely stay here again!
“Disappointed”
We were so excited to stay at the Crescent. It is a beautiful hotel with magnificent views, but the hotel personnel were rude and did not try to be helpful. There were no extra pillows for my pregnant daughter in law, the ghost tours were very annoying right outside the room. We ate in the fourth level bistro bar, the food was okay but they couldn't even make a virgin drink for my daughter in law. We went on the ghost tour and it was hoky, there was hardly any history to the tour and the tour guide was trying hard to make things up. For instance, she said the ghost would tell her what the baby was going to be? Then argued with us when she was wrong. All in all, a grand hotel stay was ruined by the people in the building.
“If you can handle the smell in the room and hate taking a shower, it may sense stay one night .”
Bad odor inside the rooms, room carpet needs to be change. There is an insufficient flow of water that allows you to take a decent shower. The handles of the hotel’s main doors are falling apart. In general, major restoration is needed in this historical hotel.Otherwise, the hotel is situated in a beautiful location.
“Experience of a lifetime!”
The 1886 Crescent was absolutely stunning! For a hotel with such history, it was in wonderful condition. Our room was suprisingly huge! The beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was much larger than any chain hotel. I loved the old furniture in the room, and it even had a coffee maker (with awesome coffee!) and a hair dryer. My daughter and I went on the ghost tour, which was 2 hours long. It was pricey, but worth it to me. The tour guides were very knowledgable, and the history of the hotel was very interesting. We got some great orb pictures! We heard a child giggling, in the room next door, all night on the first night. Come to find out noone was in that room, and we were in the old cancer hospital's "children's wing". Loved the deck on the 4th floor, where you can go out and see the Christ of the Ozarks. The hotel offered shuttle service to downtown and we walked back. It was a great adventure just roaming the hotel. I cannot wait to go back! It was definitely an experience of a lifetime!
“Mediocre at best”
My comments are being directed to do with Expedia, per se. When we checked in we asked if there was a room with a balcony. The reply was negative, but we were supposedly "upgraded." Upon checkout they accidentally gave me the receipt sent to Expedia, in which they upgraded the cost to you. That is not what I asked for. If you had to pay them more than you received, I am afraid that you have been cheated. The service in both the dining room and bar upstairs was TERRIBLE, and the room was extremely crowded, the bathroom so tiny you could hardly turn around in it, and we didn't sleep all night because the rain fell on the window airconditioner (right next to my bed) all night long. If you were charged an additional fee, I would protest, for sure.
“Some ambiance but just old.”
We went for a weekend trip for my wife's birthday. I had stayed in the hotel in 1957. I'm not sure it had changed much. One night would have been OK but the two night requirement is too much. The king bed was nice but left little other space in the room. The Sunday Brunch was excellent so it wasn't all bad.
