“Center of town overlooking everything”

For a 106yr old hotel it was very nice, and in the center of the nicest Victorian town I have seen. You can walk to everything in town or just set on the second story balcony restaurant with a drink and watch the town move below.

“Not your usual cookie-cutter stay”

This hotel is NOT for those who expect brand new, modern, just-like-everybody-else facilities. It is definitely a funky experience, and if that's what you're after . . . you'll love it. The folks were unerringly friendly, from the desk clerk to the restaurant staff to the housekeeping supervisor. The "1905" in the name reflects the year in which the building was constructed, and the feel is in keeping with that era. I felt like I was walking into a movie set. Take the ghost tour, and you may find out stories about your own room. As a bonus, the spa on the 2nd floor was fabulous! The location is perfect for strolling around Eureka Springs, and the free shuttle will take you any place you want to go. It was a blast, and I'll be going back!

“Where were the ghosts?”

Most enjoyable! Very convenient to the shops in downtown Eurecka Springs. The parking problem is solved by a valet and van service that will take you anywhere within reason, and they follow you to the hotel's parking lot after you check in. But all the ghosts must have been at the more expensive Crescent Hotel up on the hill. As both hotels are owned by the same family, the Basin Park Hotel van will take you up there and back until 10:00pm.

Area recommendations
Take the tour of the Historic District from the trolley terminal just a few blocks away form the Basin Streeet Hotel.
Comment from the hotel's management
Thank you for the review. Yes most ghost are know at the Crescent more than likely due to its past as a hospital for 3 years. We always enjoy hearing how the parking situation is for guest for it is so limited in Eureka Springs but we are very fortunate to be able to provide such a big parking lot. Hope to see you in the near future.

“DON'T GO THERE! HORRIBLE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED!!!”

It was a horrible experience - noise - filth - vomit in the elevator... When I complained to the manager they (up)graded us to a room that there was no key to! IT WAS AWFUL AND UN-CALLED FOR. We paid for a king sized bed and when we got upgraded we were put in a double - I WILL NEVER EVER STAY IN THAT PLACE AGAIN.

“Old but clean”

This is a very old hotel but the rooms are clean and even though the A/C was a window unit, it worked great in the 100 degree heat. It had a coffee maker and blow dryer which was missing in our previous day's stay in a different old hotel.

“Great experience”

This is an old hotel, but the room was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location in downtown Eureka Springs. The shuttle service is a wonderful part of staying here. The restaurant has great food. I also very much enjpyed the Ghost Tour.

“Nice Little Getaway”

Our (young couple) trip to the Basin Park Hotel in April 2011 was very pleasant. We read many other reviews prior to our travel so we had an idea of what to expect. It certainly isn't a five star hotel. It's more of a cross between a large bed and breakfast and a rustic getaway. Regardless, we were very pleased. The spa is located right in the hotel as well as a decent pool hall and breakfast buffet. All of these were nice conveniences. Our only complaints, and they are very minor, are the shower was weak but the jacuzzi tub made up for that and the king size bed I paid for was smaller than a queen. It was very comfortable though. It is a very old hotel that they have updated and maintained very well. We enjoyed many of the local attraction including the local gift and antique shops. Keels Creek Winery is a quick and pleasant treat. We sampled 10 wines and bought 3 bottles. The Turpentine Animal Rescue is definitely worth the trip. The animals are beautiful. Also, Devitos Italian Restaraunt across from the hotel is also a must. Ask for Howard as your waiter. He's been there over 22 years and provided us with the best service we have ever received. We ate there two days in a row. All in all, our trip was what we expected. It wasn't cheap but still a relaxing getaway only a few hours down the road. We would most certainly recommend it and plan to do it again.

Thank you for your review. You have mentioned several great attractions and restaurants very close to the hotel that are very popular. Thank you for noting that the hotel is older but well maintained. We are currently updated several of our sleeping rooms including new beds and shower heads. Thank you again for your review and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

“Interesting Architecture.”

While we didn't see any ghosts. We were intriqued by the stories, the architecture, the building itself. It was an interesting expierence. Not like the Hilton or regular hotels we have stayed at. Something between a b&b and a hotel. It was a fun stay once we got used to the atmosphere.

Area recommendations
Right in the middle of the city. If you are gonna do it then do it right. It is quaint. The food around town is great, and the little shops are fun to paruse.
Dining
The Mud street Cafe has some crazy good food. We loved it and the witresses were so nice like they have known us forever. The orange bluberry muffin...YUM! And the breakfast potatoes were like giving food to the starving! Could eat those all day! The hot dog place across from the hotel isopen to 3am. It caters to the late nighters. The hotdogs are HUGE! And they really are good. We had chilli cheese dogs. So filling. Very good. The Pizza Bar was pretty quiet, but the pizza was wonderful. The owners were pretty cool too. If you want milk at midnight...GOOD LUCK you arent gonna find any!
