“My first visit Could have been better”

Our first room was very small and looked like electrical wiring had never been up-dated. They moved us to a larger room. Some of the lights did not work in that room. There was a problem with the bathtub draining, so I reported it to the desk the next morning. A few hours later we returned. You could smell a terrible oder when you came in the main door of the hotel. We found out that it was coming from our room on the 4th floor. They moved us again to another room. The bed in that room needed new mattresses. It was very uncomfortable. We layed down in the bed & both rolled to the middle of the bed. When you walked out of the bathroom into the room, it felt like you were walking down hill. The rooms were decorated with odd pieces of furniture that they might have picked up at a yard sale. I would not stay there again as it is.

“Stay here for the location”

The hotel's location is its biggest asset, and it was clean. However, it's a 100-year old hotel and the creaky floors and small rooms show it. The elevator is small and slow, so you'd be better off staying on one of the lower floors and using the stairs. It's worth it to use the valet parking and use their shuttle or the trolley if you can wait a few minutes. But it's right in the middle of the historic district and within walking distance of many of the shops and restaurants. Their restaurant's okay, but there are many others nearby that are better. Some of the front desk staff need to work on their "people skills". War Eagle Mill does a great breakfast buffet for a reasonable price and it's in an aptly named area behind the front desk called "The Cave".

“Old 1905 Hotel.”

On there website I saw a picture of what looked like a updated room. But that was not what was available for high weekend rate I paid. The room was small with a mis-fitting door, a sagging floor in the tiny bathroom and an old iron bed. The hallways were dark and the room was noisy. The hotel is supposed to have ghosts and I think they might be the only ones that might be comfortable in the room I had. The hotel was right downtown which is just where we wanted to be. It was an experience, but not one I'll repeat.

“Will not be going back”

I will be going back. The stories of this hotel being haunted are totally true.

“Less than desirable”

Front desk staff were less than helfpul and very unkempt. There were a lot of smokers in the restaurant and the food wasn't very good. There is not a hotel parking lot near the hotel. You have to park down on Main Street and then call them for a ride. That lot was full so we had to park at the Crescent hotel and then wait for another 20 minutes for a ride to the hotel. The nice thing was that we were near all the shopping and within walking distance of the Mud Street Cafe-great food.

“No hot water, TINY bathroom”

The first 2 nights we were in a room where the walls on either side of the toilet actually touched the toilet, and the shower was extremely small and difficult to turn around in. The last day of our stay, there was no hot water.

“Won't use again”

We were prepared for retro since the hotel was built in 1905, which we thought would be part of the charm. But the room was uncomfortable. The beds were as old as the hotel, the springs squeeked every time we rolled over. The bathroom door didn't stay closed. There was no table and chairs to sit at when not in bed, just one rickety chair in the room. We had booked three nights and after the second night decided it was time to check out.

“DON'T GO THERE! HORRIBLE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER STAYED!!!”

It was a horrible experience - noise - filth - vomit in the elevator... When I complained to the manager they (up)graded us to a room that there was no key to! IT WAS AWFUL AND UN-CALLED FOR. We paid for a king sized bed and when we got upgraded we were put in a double - I WILL NEVER EVER STAY IN THAT PLACE AGAIN.
