An oasis

Posted Aug 17, 2014
We are doing a Road Trip in the States and arrived at the River Wilderness after a long 2 day drive from New Orleans. We didn't really know what to expect as we booked it as a but if an unknown. Our cabin overlooked a lake and we sat on the veranda listening to the birds and alligators plopping in the water. Incredibly peaceful. I will definitely be returning at some point.

Unique stay in the Everglades

Posted Jul 20, 2014
This was a nice change from modern hotel rooms. The furniture is a little dated but it was great to be able to spread out in the 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms kitchen, and living room. Not to mention the large screened verandah looking out over the river. We were able to stroll across a car park for a lovely dinner next door. Only problem was the Wi-Fi did not work in our room. Despite this it was a very fitting place to stay in the Everglades.

An experience

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: The atmosphere
Cons: Could improve many things but its charm would suffer for any improvements. i choose the charm.
Location: It is in the everga Sed park. Next door you have facilities for air-boat trips, nearby (on 41 s) there are alligator farms and nature trails.
Very interesting and special place. Not luxury but with a personality. All villas have nice porch overlooking the river and free use of canoes. Everything is simple but cosy.

great place to stay if you are a fishermen...homey

Cons: the 1980's decor ...pleasant and we didn't mind. not the Hilton by far but it meet our needs of a place to sleep & shower the drive thru Everglades.
Location: went to restaurant with river view and delicious food and well prepare, tasty and price right. local flavor and atmosphere, can't remember the name .
if you don't mind the 1980's decor and I mean it was EVERYWHERE...well maintain furniture and dining set and bedroom, though set in the 80's - fairly comfortable bed and the kitchen was fully equip...best yet has pull-thru parking spaces directly below your rooms 1 story up - long enough for boat trailers and vehicle...won't fit any RV though. old style cat-tube TV's but it work and the screen in porch facing the river was VERY RELAXING equip with ceiling fan , I guess would be wonderful if during summer months with humidity and mosquitoes friendly front desk staff - old town hospitality . gave recommendations for dinner places - but Everglade City is small town and not many choices that stay open late - we got there about 5 pm and 1/2 was close already . there was a Subway across the street.
