Problems in Pioneer Park

Posted Jul 11, 2015
Pros: I have always been pleased with this hotel chain but I was very disappointed in the way this went. Breakfast was good.
Cons: The staff was unfamiliar with which rooms had a/c and what beds were in the rooms. Better staffing.
Location: Fairbanks has North Pole, Chena Hot Springs, Pioneer park, museums, etc.
The first room was very nice. The only thing it lacked was a fridge. Unfortunately the toilet clogged and we were handed a plunger. Not being plumbers, we took them up on the offer to change rooms. The next room they sent us to had no a/c. There were fires around the city and smoke was unpleasant. So they tried to put us in another room that had 1 queen and a twin. I paid for and needed 2 queen beds. Finally they put us in a room that had the right size beds, had a/c and a working toilet. But by this time we had paraded up three floors and in the elevator in our pj's. Not to mention my father had trouble walking and the last room was all the way down a very long hall.

Wouldn't stay here again

Posted Jul 10, 2015
To begin with the cleaning service didn't make it to our room at all we brought this up to the staff and they told us the maid service didn't show. We told them about this the next day and they just shrug their shoulders. Breakfast was terrible over flowing trash cans, no coffee cups, warm milk...I could go on and on. I was looking forward to the first time I visited Alaska and this sure wasn't a good start

Nice hotel in a quiet location

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Pros: Quiet location. Clean, well maintained facilities. Hot breakfast every morning.
Location: The Pioneer Park is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
The hotel was in a nice quiet location. The rooms were pretty standard, a little bit on the smaller side, but fine for 3-4 people. There is a small, well maintained swimming pool, and also a small fitness room. Breakfast was hot and fresh every morning. Hotel staff were very helpful. We stayed for 4 nights in total. Very impressed, I would consider staying here again if we return to Fairbanks in the future.

not the best

Posted Jun 25, 2015
Pros: they provided transportation at check-in & check-out
Cons: new carpeting, attention to cleanliness, attention to guest services
Location: away from everything except a park. unmarked trails to the park, so I didn't go there
comfortable beds / clean room baths / not clean poolside bath / inconvenient poolside shower amenities (no hooks for clothing & soap only at sink) / carpet needs replacing / poor quality towels in rooms - better in poolside area / staff wasn't current on area events / continental breakfast - the attendant refused to replenish eggs or meats during breakfast hours / inconvenient location, but quiet Note: I picked up the small table and it was sticky underneath.

Very friendly staff

Posted Jun 25, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: The curtain was broken in our room.
Recently we stayed three nights here. Heather, the lady at reception, was awsome, very friendly. She told us in detailes what we can do and see in and around fairbanks. We took all her advices and we had a fantanstic experience. Due to change of plan, we had to canncelled two nights booking. Ther is no hassles, we are fully refunded. I will be happy to come back again in the future.

Quiet hotel

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: Quiet, comfortable beds, front desk staff very helpful!
Cons: Houskeeping staff is changing, and hopefully to a better staff that speaks a language other than Russian.
Location: Chen hotsprings, the riverboat ride
This hotel was just off the beaten path, however, still in the heart of the city. It was very quiet in spite of a large amount of business. The pool looked very nice and inviting, unfortunately due to coming in late nightly I was unable to enjoy it and do wish it had been open at night. I also really wish they had the Jacuzzi I mistakenly thought they had. Beds were very comfortable. TV did not work in the first room even after requesting new batteries and a reset for the remote. Hotel staff was very accomedating after check out and calling from 250 miles down the road saying I could not return home due to fire and could I please book another night so I could come back and start off for home on a longer route the next day. TV and remote worked in this new room. Hot breakfast, eggs and other options, very crowded area for obtaining breakfast, but a very reasonable breakfast for this small hotel.

Nice hotel!

Posted Jun 4, 2015
Pros: Small, but practical gym (elliptical trainer, treadmill, reclining bike); nice indoor pool; good selection of coffees and teas in your room.
Location: Located adjacent to the Chena River and it's walkway. No shops within walking distance, but it's only a couple of mins drive to get to the mall.
We enjoyed a great five nights here. Our room was on the second floor and while dark in the morning, was great in the late afternoon/evening when the sun was shining in. Check-in was prompt and courteous, and while we didn't partake in the free breakfast, it smelt and looked good (albeit smallish). We made use of the small gym several times. There were no free weights or weight machines, just an elliptical trainer, treadmill, and reclining stat bike. They all seemed to be maintained to a high standard and afforded a good workout. The room itself had ample space with a comfie bed and good selection of tv channels. It had a small single-cup coffee maker, with a good choice of coffees (loved the French vanilla flavor!!). Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a comfortable, affordable stay!!
