Perfect for people who like their own space.

Posted Feb 24, 2014
This hotel was perfect for us. Nice sized kitchen with everything we needed. Two TVs and two queen sized beds. The bathroom was very clean and everything was in good working order. I stayed two nights and was thrilled with the service, the restaurant was very good and the wifi was easy to connect to. I truly enjoyed my stay.

All you need in Fairbanks

Posted Jan 29, 2014
Pros: Large rooms, friendly hotel manager
Location: Cookie Jar is great for brunch
What I loved about this hotel was the size of the rooms. We visited Fairbanks in December, when there wasn't much daylight outside, so we spent a lot of time in our hotel room. Having a suite with a separate kitchen, living room and bedroom was wonderful for having enough space. The staff were very helpful when we asked for suggestions for local restaurants, and the hotel manager went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was memorable. We'll choose Sophie Station again on our next visit.

Clean hotel, good location

I always love staying at Sophie's but the beds need to be replaced. Two bodies fall to the middle and fight for the downhill spot. 3 stays in different rooms had the same problem with bed. I'll try another hotel next trip. Too bad because the rooms are very nice and dining room food is excellent!

Stores nearby

Pros: The roominess.
Location: Close to Fred Meyers and Safeway. A bus provided to take visitors without own transportation to nearby attractions.
A very comfortable room. It had a full kitchen, living room and 2 queen beds. When we walked in, it smelled of stale smoke, but we left the windows open, and didn't notice the smell thereafter. Excellent curb appeal, with a lot of beautiful flowers.

Comfortable hotel; excellent for longer stays

Posted May 6, 2013
Sophie Station has full kitchens, so if you are staying more than a day, or are on a diet or have special dietary needs, you can do your own cooking with no problems. It is clean, the beds are comfortable, and it is generally quiet. The restaurant & bar are decent if you don't want to cook.

A perfect stay!

Posted Apr 4, 2013
Pros: the large room
Cons: the staff is efficient but some of them would gain being more friendly, but it was not a big matter.
Location: the hotel is located near a good grocery shop and gas station, it was in the heart of Fairbanks so really close from everything (you'll need a car)
This hotel is clean and warm, the staff is efficient and there is a shuttle free from and to the airport at ckeck in and check out (once only, even thought you fly somewhere else during your stay). The cheapest room looks like a suite, we loved to feel just like home with all the comfort we needed! :)

recent trip

Posted Apr 11, 2012
Pros: close to stores, convenient location, separate sleeping and living room spaces, ideal with kids
Cons: Need a door between the bathroom sink area and bedroom sleeping area so when getting ready in a.m. don't disturb people still sleeping.
Location: Great
Good, convenient, comfortable place to stay. Nice to have kitchen area and bedrooms separate from living room area and 2 TVs.

Great for Fairbanks

Posted Mar 13, 2012
Pros: Price, cleanliness, staff.
Cons: Bed/mattress was horrible (tried both)
Location: Excellent for university/airport side of town.
I really like Sophie Station. First I had a terrible experience with their companion "Wedgewood Resort" and didn't realize till after booking they were the same company, which had me really scared. However all was well, great by AK standards actually. It isn't brand new ('84ish) but room was super clean, obviously with recent remodel excepting the aged kitchen (new counters though) which was still super clean and fully functional, just 80's appliances and cabinets. Rest of the room though with new flat screen, bath redone, etc. Again for AK standards (low) this was exceptionally nice, by lower 48 standards, still quite adequate. Staff was wonderful, didn't try Zach's but have been told their food is good. Would defintely make it my #1 stay location for business or family travel excepting if one wanted the pool at the new Hampton Inn. But we just hit the Alaska Club for a pool for the 5yo anyway. Location perfect for the side of town it is on, could walk to Fred Meyers or Safeway if you wanted (though on a -20F day I didn't.) Plenty of plug-ins in the lot.
