Great for family and very comfortable!

Pros: Big screen TV in living room, formal dining room if you had friends visit. Kitchen well equiped! And clean!
Cons: Off season so unable to fully enjoy.
Location: Nice location, safe area.
Unfortunately, some things are closed in the winter like the Auto show only open on Sundays and we missed it. One of the big reasons for booking there, to walk around to the the places on site. No restaurant on premises, but 2 blocks to the best Italian Restaurant we have been in for many years, and I know Italian. The staff were wonderful and friendly, and the accomodations were much more than expected. Almost hate to let people in on this little secret!

Pros: Bus that went between their 4 hotels and the supermarket and the museum of Alaska. Auto museum was v.good.
Cons: Airport service
Location: Not a good location. Not good unless you have a car
We had to wait From 11:30 until 4:30 to get a room and then found out it was on the third floor and there were no elevators. We asked to get a first floor room as we had a lot of luggage . They found one after 15 minutes. Their airport transportation didn't start until 6 am even though they advertised 24 hour service so we were given the number of a taxi company.

Good family suite!
Posted Jan 15, 2012
Pros: Plenty of room in the suite. Nice and quiet area.
Location: Good central location.
We enjoyed our stay here, and appreciated the roominess of the suite. Even my active 4 year old had enough room to run around in. Very well suited for families, with plenty of room in the kitchen for at-home style cooking.

Cons: Hotel bathrooms were not adequately furnished
We reserved the hotel, and selected 6 as an occupancy. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that we could not have 6 in the room that expedia said we could. We were forced to pay for a double suite, and since it was late, and no other hotels in the area, we had no other choice but to stay at this hotel. Even though expedia said we could have 6 in the room, the hotel said we could not. We drove over 8 hrs to get to this hotel, and then were forced to pay almost double in what we expected. With gas prices how high they are, our budget was alrady set. This was pretty upsetting, and the hotel would not help us, and we could not do anything with how late it was. I was pretty upset that the info from the hotel and expedia were not shared.

Closed facilities in winter!
Posted Jan 12, 2012
Pros: Clean comfortable rooms
Cons: All hotel facilities were closed
Location: Just outside town, quiet, easy car journey to shops, not much in walking distance, very scenic in the snow
The wedgewood Hotel is a nice complex with comfortable apartments however, I was disappointed on my arrival. I took my husband on this trip as my wedding gift to him to see the beautiful Aurora. I chose the Wedgewood as it seemed to have everything we needed eg self catering apartments with the option to use the hotel cafe and restaurants, museum and gym facilities. At no point before our trip and nowhere on the hotel website did it mention that all of the hotel facilities and museum were closed for the winter! We stayed there in Jan/Feb. On our arrival we were unable to get anything to eat, quite disappointing after an eighteen hour journey. There was a vending machine in the hotel lobby which had chocolate bars for sale. The staff gave us a map and pointed us in the direction of the supermarket, not much use at night but useful for the next day. Our apartment didnt have a kettle but we were provided with one the next day. Fairbanks highly promotes the fact that you can see the Aurora from just outside the town however the hotel staff didnt seem to have much information about it which we found surprising. The gym facilities turned out to be discounted rates at a gym two miles away. Most of the information in the guest folder in the apartment was completely irrelavant to us as it gave information on the hotel and tourist attractions which are only open in the summer. Fortunately the heating worked as the temperature didnt get above -27 during our stay!

Most helpful staff and very large rooms with dining area, living room and full kitchen. Would definitely stay here again.
