Comfortable nice place to stay in Fairbanks

Posted Feb 28, 2015
Pros: Exercise room, free breakfast, clean room, no problems.
Cons: More protein foods at breakfast. There were hard-boiled eggs (which I detest), but I would have loved some scrambled ones.
Location: Very close to the Steese Highway, making it convenient to go into the surrounding areas for nighttime searching of the Northern Lights.
We were there for 4 nights in February 2015 in search of the Northern Lights. Complimentary breakfast was good, but mostly carbohydrates. Bed was very good. It was a quiet, restful stay. Nothing to complain about. I used the exercise room 3 times and appreciated that.

Good location but the old tower rooms are quite small, Staff is friendly but the breakfast is marginal albeit free.

Nice Hotel, Great Conference site,Poor Breakfast

Posted Feb 4, 2015
Pros: Excellent assistance and support for conferences! Good location and clean, updated rooms.
Cons: Breakfast choices for complimentary breakfast - need more variety. The lobby and hallways were extremely cold, but it was -40 below at the time.
Location: Downtown gift shops within walking distance. Aurora viewing in the winter.
The Westmark is a very nice hotel located near downtown Fairbanks. I attended a conference held there and the staff goes above and beyond to help out with conference needs. Very impressed! Clean rooms with updated decor. Two areas of concern - the complimentary breakfast choices were very disappointing. The only entre' choices were cold cereal or oatmeal with boiled eggs and some pastries and fruit. It was very cold outside during our stay, so I would have liked some hot items such as waffles, scrambled eggs, etc. I have stayed in lower quality hotels than this one that had a far better "spread" for breakfast. Also of concern - one of the waiters in the restaurant was sniffling and coughing the whole time he was waiting on guests. I was afraid to touch anything he was touching! He should not have been allowed to work that day!

Quiet, convenient place to stay.

Posted Feb 1, 2015
Pros: The bed was very comfortable! And there were enough electrical outlets, both in the room and in the parking lot.
Cons: The room could have been a bit bigger, but the price was in line with the facility offered.
Location: Westmark is close to downtown Fairbanks, really quite accessible to anything in the Fairbanks area.
We were there three nights during extreme cold (-40) weather. It was warm, clean, comfortable and convenient to both downtown Fairbanks and a direct route to shopping and the airport. Electrical outlets were available in the parking lot so we could plug in engine heaters for our vehicles. Excellent Wi-Fi is included with no extra charge.

Does The Trick

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Preponderance of electrical outlets in the room.
Cons: Give people choices in the breakfast buffet. I don't want to eat oatmeal every single day.
This hotel is not subject to the same problem so many other hotels I stay at have... a lack of electrical outlets in the room. My room had outlets everywhere... no shortage to choose from. So many hotels force you to move your bed to unplug a lamp to be able to just get one plug. With Westmark you won't have to worry about that. On the other side of the fence, I am very disappointed with the continental breakfast. Every day the only choice with any substance was oatmeal. So if you love oatmeal you'll love their breakfast. Other than that there are various small items to choose from. On the first day we were informed there was no chef in the kitchen to prepare items from the menu. Unsure if this was also the case on subsequent days.
