Fairmont Visit

Wet and Mildewy

Room smelled mildewy even after airing out with window open for ten minutes. Carpet was wet near the AC unit (the condensate line was obviously blocked). There was a used shampoo bottle left in the shower and urine splatter on the toilet seat. This had been our regular layover on our trips out west. Never again.

Very expensive for a small town Hotel.

One of the most expensive hotels in the country! Needs a bunch of updating, ie.... new beds, carpet, drapes, sheets, ect. Service was ok but not over the top. This is a $60 hotel with a $120 price tag.

We did a complete property renovation in 2013 with all new beds, carpet, drapes, so I'm not sure if you have us confused with another property but I can assume you that we have updated all of our rooms and they look great. This Holiday Inn, Fairmont, MN

Pros: Cleanliness, friendlyness, modern, well kept inn.
Cons: Fix the flapper in the toilet tank, rm. 161
Location: Fairmont is a very attractive small city. It is situated around five connecting lakes which are great for swimming, boating, etc. Great destination.
This H.I. is just off I90 and five minutes from downtown Fairmont. We stayed only one evening and did not see nor use the pool so we don't know about that. The room was squeaky clean, very well appointed, the bath with nearly too many towels, the usual little bottles of shampoo, etc., very quiet with little or no noise from other rooms or the sewage or water system. It was just steps from the parking lot. The staff was excellent and, wonder of wonders, the restaurant offered a huge variety of good food. Our selections were very good. The most recommended selection was Walleyed Pike!!!. This was a great stay, slightly spoiled only by a temporarily lost cellphone. The staff was alerted immediatly and kept us posted on their progress toward finding it. Turned up in our car, but we were grateful for the hotel's concern. Overall a very pleasant five star stay. Highly recommended.

Old hotel with recent updates

We stayed here on our cross country trip. I was a little let down by lack of a free breakfast, but there is a restaurant in the hotel that you can order room service from; we opted for a neighboring establishment. The front desk staff was extremely helpful, and even microwaved our dinner for us. It's right off the freeway, and there are gas stations near by, so getting back on the road in the morning was easy. It's an older style hotel that seems recently updated (including enclosing what appears to be a former open-air pool area.) I could see the paint strokes on the doors, where they just threw some paint on the old ones. The room was a bit small, but had everything we needed in it. They are very pet friendly.

Full service Holiday Inn's do not offer a free breakfast but we are proud of the excellent offering we have in our Green Mill restaurant for Breakfast, lunch and dinner!! Nice except for our room location.

We were there for a class reunion. The hotel was very clean and well kept, and the service was good. The only negative was our room location. We were on the second floor next to the stairway to an outside door. The stairway door opened against our door, so only one at a time could open. If the hotel had been busy (it wasn't) it would have been an inconvenience and noisy. We were as far as possible from the lobby and restaurant. It seemed like a strange place to place us since they weren't very full. It was convenient to the parking lot, although a long ways from the elevator if we had needed that. The food in the restaurant was good. We would probably stay there again, although we have stayed at the budget motel across the street and that is about half the price of the HI and not a bad place to stay.
