From my Australian perspective this Hotel is well positioned - next to the old part of town but you are required to walk back the way you drove/walked in and swing a left, cross the bridge over the water way and go straight ahead. We ate an evening meal at the restaurant first on your left which is tucked away a little and is part of another hotel. This is just once you enter the mentioned street/walkway leading into the old town. The Augustus Hotel - we ordered a twin room and received a double room with a roll out bed - watch this issue when booking into your room. We mentioned this on departing and they said they thought we were going to be more comfortable with a roll out bed -? We could not get to the fridge without moving the roll out bed. It's probably our fault for not raising the issue immediately, but after driving for hours in pouring rain one does not need another argument. The facilities are very clean - bleach clean. The bathroom was geared for a handicapped person. I was unaware of the obvious need for such a room. When did you last sit on the seat and not touch the floor? The shower - we Australians like to shower daily - set aside a bit of time - the pressure was so poor one could almost dry yourself whilst standing under the shower. Be advised, there is a fast train line between the Hotel and the beach - the windows are double glazed! The breakfast was magnificent and worth the stay just for that and the location.
