“Dingy, drenched in cigarette smoke”
My stay was ruined by the ever present smell of cancer and heart attack inducing cigarette smoke throughout the hotel, and I stayed in a "non-smoking" room. Further, the bathrooms were appointed with stained white towels, peeling wallpaper, and stained surfaces (floors and bathtubs) that all needed to be replaced. The beds were also old, overly soft, and mysteriously itchy. The saving grace was the friendly staff and good breakfast, or there would be nothing kind to say of the hotel. The root of the problem was the ownership's decision to place a handful of smoking rooms in the exact center of each floor, rather than putting them in a separate building or eliminating them altogether. I'm guessing they must be smokers themselves who feel spiteful about the whole "environmental tobacco smoke will kill you" scientific findings. Would not stay again.
“Decent spot”
The hotel is pretty much what you'd expect. Rooms are clean and well kept; nothing fancy but certainly acceptable in every way. Front desk staff was helpful and available.
