Can't find in Fes

Posted Nov 29, 2011 on Hotels.com
Caught a taxi outside railroad station. He dumped me in the Medina. 3 sweet boys walked me around for an hour. I then went to ask at official looking places. No one knew where the place was. I then was besieged by several tough characters demanding that I let them guide me. One took me in circles and demanded 20 Euros. I hoped a taxi out and fled for the train station and checked into the ibis hotel. Much cheaper than Maison la Maure Tried to call Maure several times and phone number was not working.

MAISON MAURE - FES

An oasis in the Medina! A beautiful house with roof terrace overlooking the city, and the visit was made by the attention and kindness of Christian the owner, and Driss the Manager. They couldn't have been more personable and helpful.

Fantastic hotel and staff

My wife and I go on holiday every 6 weeks [perk of being a teacher] and this is one of our very favourite hotels that we've been to. The hotel is lovely and Christian and Driss are incredibly friendly without being overbearing. The service really was outstanding. It's situated in the medina and so doesn't look much from the outside [as all riads do] but once you get inside it really is done out fantastically. And the breakfast was great too, with lots of lovely pastries and different jams. Also, it's location is excellent because it's on one of the 'main' streets but close to entrance so relatively easy to find. We can't recommend it more.
