“Perfectly happy!”
After reading the reviews already written for this hotel I was concerned about comfort and noise. I need not have worried. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were polite and helpful. We stayed in an executive double room and it was lovely, perfectly relaxing and no noise or children running around late at night. Lovely breakfast too although a bit pricey as not included in our price.Would definitely stay here again.
“Looking forward to going again”
We opted to stay here because of a good rate we saw on expedia. We spent two nights there while visiting Edinburgh. The rooms were very well appointed and the staff switched us from twin rooms to double rooms on request. The rooms had wonderful views and several good local restaurants nearby. I would definitely recommend it if you have your own transport. I look forward to staying here next time I'm in Edinburgh for business.
“Quality for price”
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was that we could not get dinner after 10:00 p.m. and there was an extra charge on our bill the next morning for a breakfast from the day before, though we had only stayed one night and not ordered any breakfast. This was corrected though and the staff were very helpful.
“Excellent views”
The hotel was beuatiful and modern the room was excellent and the view across the Firth Of Forth was breathtaking. The bar is a little quiet and could have done with a TV for Sporting occasions as there are no other bars close by. All in all great place to stay for a quiet evening.
“Did the job”
We needed somewhere close to South Queensferry, where we were going for a wedding. This hotel was perfectly located for our purposes, and was much cheaper than hotels closer to Edinburgh city center. Clean, efficient, friendly staff. Shame about the finished room service dishes left in the corridor all weekend...
“not impressed”
Weekends are very noisy as there are several weddings or functions going on at the same time. Smoking is very heavy in the main areas. Beds were very old and not comfortable. Can hear everything in the neighboring rooms and the hall has doors that bang. They also allow the kids to run the halls at all hours. Dining room quite expensive and not much selection. Choose another hotel!
“To far from city centre”
The room was adequate and the food offered in the dining room was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem is the distance from everything, (other restaurants or pubs and city centre) you need a car or you spend a lot of money on taxi.
“We were sorely disappointed but this may have just been a one off”
We had booked an executive room, we arrived at the hotel where reception was quite busy and the lady on it was very flustered however very nice. We were allocated a standard room, it took an hr & half til we got to the correct room. Food in restaurant was below average on the friday but the hotel was busy with 3 weddings over the duration of weekend so prob was just wrong w/end to go. People running up & down outside our room screaming & shouting. We had ordered room service for breakfast on Sunday morning, food was cold, no plates for buttering toast, butter was like water it had been next to the tea. We booked a late checkout but had housekeeping at our door telling us we were late checking out. On the plus side the view of firth was amazing, the bed was extremely comfortable and the staff did try to make things better but it was my hubby's birthday and it just made the weekend very disappointing and stressful. We would'nt go back though.
“Overrated”
I would not class this hotel as a three star hotel at all, I would in it's current condition class it as a one star hotel. The carpets in the rooms, hallways and reception area were really dirty and could do with a good deep clean. The Bathroom floor tiles were mouldy and so was the shower curtain, not something you want to see in a hotel really. The surfaces on most of the furniture items in the room were very dusty. Our window was sealed off with duck tape for some reason and we could feel the cold air coming in when the curtains were not drawn. The restaurant is very over priced for the quality and some of the staff could be a bit more friendly. Overall not one of the best hotels I've stayed in.....
