honeymoon!Posted Aug 6, 2014
we had the perfect 5 day stay at Matamanoa Island. They welcomed our arrival with their local song and guitar playing and smoothies waiting. Our bure was overlooking the ocean and it was even more perfect then we expected! Snorkeling, tennis playing, boat trips, food, drinks --- everything was ideal!

Your own private IslandPosted Jun 24, 2014
Cons: A more extensive dinner menu.
We recently stayed at Matamanoa Island for 4 days, Bure 14 which was right opposite the beach. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The bure had wow factor, it was large, spacious, clean and we could see sunset from our hammock. The water was very warm and we snorkeled and swam everyday sighting numerous fish and even turtles. The island is very quiet, no TV etc and was a great way to relax. There is only one restaurant to eat at. Continental Breakfast was included. Lunch menu was extensive but dinner was little limited with choices. This island was highly recommended and didn't disappoint.

Perfect place to relaxPosted May 23, 2014
If you want a holiday where you can unwind and relax then Matamanoa is for you. The beachfront bure with personal hammock, was of excellent size, decoration and cleanliness to ease you into Fiji time. With no children permitted and a Max of 66 people, you feel like you have a piece of the island to yourself. The snorkeling just off the beach is amazing ... no need to take a boat trip anywhere to do it. Just walk 10m from your room. No TV in the room was an excellent idea, as the bar, restaurant and band are all you need to entertain you for the evening.

Total relaxationPosted May 12, 2014
Pros: One resort, not to many people, no children
Cons: Some do the areas could do with an overhaul, sun chairs and the cushioning, tables could do with a reprint. Just looking a little tired from wear
Location: The location was great, not that close to other islands, however if you just wanted a holiday to get away from it all, this is the place to be
The resort was just amazing, the whole holiday was totally relaxing, no pressure to do anything and the hotel team were just great. Food was ok, not exceptional but certainly did not take away from the wonderful holiday. We would definitely go back it was just paradise

Beautiful Island & Accommodations, Wonderful StaffPosted May 7, 2014
Pros: Loved the staff's warmth and exuberance, our striking and cozy garden bure, the beautiful tropical grounds, the intimacy and quietude of adults-only.
Cons: The complimentary buffet breakfast could stand more variation from day to day, though pancakes were added, to my delight, on one of the mornings.
Location: A scenic 2+ hour cruise from Denarau, within sight of various Mamanuca islands, we strolled the island's beaches and played in it's waters exclusively
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our five days and four nights in this tropical paradise after 3 weeks driving throughout New Zealand - definitely a highlight of our four-week vacation. With warm air and ocean temperatures, we spent much of our time swimming, kayaking and snorkeling over the reefs surrounding the roughly 2 kilometers of shoreline. On shore, I was rarely without my camera equipment, photographing the colorful and abundant birdlife, even from our table on the restaurant balcony. Matamanoa Island is the kind of place one imagines when dreaming about the South Pacific.

Beautiful placePosted May 5, 2014
Pros: peaceful location
Cons: the food was average and the facilities were dated for the amount you pay, however we still had a great time.
Location: There's lots to do, we participated in free snorkelling, canoeing around the island, hiked to the top of the island, coconut tasting etc.
We stayed in a beach bure - with the beach at your doorstep, it was paradise! The room was clean with air conditioning and close to the main amenities (pool and restaurant). We took part in the free activities and also went on a snorkeling trip, as well as the tour to Monuriki Island (filming location of Castaway). Food was average and facilities dated (but clean), however I would definitely recommend to visit here for the amazing location and experience!

Great island experiencePosted Apr 28, 2014
Pros: Private plunge pool, staff service, great food at the restaurant
Cons: Maybe a second restaurant and a second pool in the main area.
Location: The island is located 15 mins from Castaway island and 1 1/2 hours from Denaurau. Day trips to Castaway are available.
We recently stayed 4 nights at Matamanoa Island Resort and it was truely amazing. I must recommend the Villa rooms especially for couples who want a bit more privacy. Our Villa had a plunge pool as well as access to the beach on the other side of the island which had crystal clear water. The room was more modernised than the standard bure's and had all the standard amenities you need. You wont be disappointed staying in a Villa on this island.

Great!Posted Apr 1, 2014
This was an amazing place. I just can't say enough about it. My wife and I snorkeled, reef fished, swam, went to the spa, and did it all in paradise. The staff are amazing and for a resort the food was good also. If you have seen the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks, then you know what the island looks like, because they are less than a mile away.

Beautiful Island, Fantastic Staff... its Paradise!Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: The fantastic staffs, the beautiful tropical island...
Location: A beautiful small island surrounded by white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters!!
My partner & i spent four night in the Garden View Room! the small beautiful island is really a piece of paradise. perfect to just relax and unwind, yet plenty of resort activities & paid trips (snorkelling, tennis, hand-line fishing, village tour, diving, kayaking...) to keep you busy! We did a paid snorkelling trip and hand-line fishing trip they both were inexpensive, and a great trip! There is only one restaurant on the island. the foods is average, there were plenty of choices on the menul! The buffet breakfast (which served: cereals, breads, sweets & fruits both canned and a small selections of fresh, and tea & coffee) were included in our stay, but hot breakfast were for additional charges. I thought for the price we paid for our room, the hot breakfast selections should have been included in our buffet. We recommended bring some alcohol and snack with you. Cocktail prices were expensive, similar price in Australia. We bought with us some snacks from home and beers/wine from duty free. We arrive to Nadi Airport just after 3:30pm, too late for the last South Sea Cruises! Our other option were for a Helicopter (Island Hoppers) transfer, it was an expensive transfer option but scenery flgiht! Great way to see the islands! We have to praise the staff, they were fantastic! their kindness and effort made our stay even more enjoyable, they were so welcoming, Vinaka!!! We highly recommend Matamanoa Island, we will definitely be back for another stay :)
