Surprisingly enjoyable

Posted Jul 20, 2014
We stayed as a family of four for 5 nights at the beginning of July. Surprisingly we found this was one of our best hotel experiences in Fiji. The rooms are basic but cleaned daily and relativity spacious. We had a ground floor room with a lovely view and access to the garden. We used the pool (which could probably do with a bit of a clean) but was fun and had an excellent water slide. We didn't eat dinner or lunch at this hotel but had breakfast every morning. Not the best breakfast but friendly staff and a nice seating area. If you want great breakfast try the buffet at Novotel!

Great destination to relax by the pool

Posted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: Great, friendly staff and awesome pool and slide. All round lovely atmosphere!
Cons: Bigger variety of food and larger portions
Absolutely gorgeous place, well maintained, extremely friendly staff who are always willing to help with any request. Great place for children with the pool and slide and lovely bar for the adults. Food was good but a little pricey. All in all my partner, 2 year old son and I had a lovely time and were sad to leave.

Family Friendly

Pros: Across the road from the airport and a perfect hotel for a transit stop before heading to the islands.
No trouble to provide suitable sleeping for our toddler. Offered to bring a cot at no extra charge. The dining was basic but fine for a quick stop over. The pool looked amazing (althought it overlooks the airport). It would have been great for a quick dip on a short trip. This might not be a great location for multiple nights.

Good hotel to overnight near Nadi airport

Posted May 26, 2014
This is the second time we've stayed at the Gateway Hotel in the last 2 years. Needed somewhere to overnight between arriving from Australia & our internal flight to Labassa. This is an excellent overnight stop - very pleasant & accommodating staff, comfortable & clean room, prompt attention to a fault in the room, with welcoming live music by the restaurant. Walking distance from the international & domestic terminals. Would highly recommend for an overnight stay.

Pros: Rooms are recently renovated

Hotel rooms are nice and recently renovated. Food was not very good, we tried dinner and breakfast and none of these were very good.

A short walk to the airport

Posted Apr 30, 2014
Pros: proximity to airport, room size, pool, friendly and helpful service
Cons: bed sheets, wine, more loungers by pool
The reason that we chose this hotel was for its proximity to the airport. In fact we did not even use the shuttle service as we simply had to cross the road, which was not difficult. The staff was friendly and polite - as are most Fijians, in any case. We stayed here, not only for the convenience, but also because of the pool, which was large and had a slide. This is the place to stay if you have kids because it is a lot of fun, albeit a little noisy (no fault of the hotel). Negatives are the lack of a sufficient number of poolside loungers, and the water was not as clean as it could be - no doubt due to the number of children playing in the pool. The room was good for the price and the bed was very comfortable, with extra pillows, however, the sheets could use some updating as they were a little threadbare and not too crisp. It is nice to have the private patio area. We ate the cafe and the food was really quite good, as was the price. However, the wine was awful, I have to say. It tasted watered down and on the edge of vinegar. I wish that I had ordered beer or perused a wine list (if they even had one). That said, the cocktails were well made and I can recommend those. We stayed here overnight, but I can see where the hotel excels at providing day use, which I may use at another time.
