It smelled funny, like they were trying to cover pet odor in the room. There were holes knocked in the walls they painted over, but in a different color, making them really obvious. No elevator and room was on 2nd floor. We had lots of luggage and no card. It was bad in every way I can think of.

Fantastic view from rear facing rooms. The road to Yuba State Park has excellent star gazing spots in the evening! The town of Scipio has just 3 gas stations, this hotel and a Subway, so bring food. The nearest restaurants are 45 minutes away in Richfield! We came prepared and we just loved it.

Breakfast poor. Juice almost empty, only toast, no milk. Very poor provisions. Pool under construction Higher rating based on room comfort, bathtub good bed very comfortable Dark in room needs another lamp( on desk?) Plugs in room worn. Recharging plugs fit loosely into socket or barely in. Fire/spark hazard?

Perfect Stay!
Very happy with our stay here. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. This was a last minute booking due to booking the wrong date, they were very accommodating and helpful. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful
Place was nice, quiet, clean, and staff was friendly. What more could you ask for? Breakfast was very good with a multitude of options. Decor is a bit outdated, but what do you expect for the price?

Thankful to have gotten a place to sleep
Last minute stop in the way home from Vegas. Was tired and rather than driving that way, we looked for a place to stop for the night. Staff was incredibly hospitable, friendly and helpful. Was given a room that turned out to be already occupied. Then was given a replacement. I’ve always heard hotels don’t wash bed comforters and the dried pasta sauce (or whatever it was) proved it. Aside from that, the rest of the room appeared clean enough. Still thankful for this place. Was definitely better than trying to drive on while tired

First off let me say that Sandy at the front desk was great. The lobby was very nice and clean. The rooms were not nice. Curtains were broken and did not hang properly. Holes in the walls that were patched and just left unfinished. Peeling paint in the bathroom, carpet was filthy. King size bed was broken on one side, so my husband and I had to sleep on one half. The outside of the property was terrible. Nothing but weeds all the way around it. Anyone looking to stay here should just keep driving.

One Night in a Tired Hotel
There are only two places to stay in Scipio. Only the Scipio Hotel is listed on Hotels.com. From the outside, the hotel doesn’t look old, but inside it seems tired. Our room had hooks on the wall where a picture should have been hanging. The carpet was worn, and the bathroom had a slight but distinctive sewage smell. There also chips to the paint on some of the walls. We tried to check in at 3:30 but our room was not ready until 4:30. We were told that the hotel was full the night before and that they were short on staff. The people there seemed to be working very hard, but there were still many rooms that had not been cleaned the next day. On the plus side, the air conditioning worked, the bed was comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, and the room was relatively clean. It was passable for a one night stay in the middle of nowhere.
