“Great Island Resort”

Stayed in an Ocean View Suite. Great outlook onto the beach with excellent sunset views. Rooms were very tastefully decorated. Only thing lacking was internet access. Restaurant menu was good but the specials could have been changed a bit more often. More fish could have been offered. Staff were very friendly and informative. Would highly recomend the resort and island for a relaxing time.

“Amazing Fitzroy Experience”

Fitzroy Island is an amazing island. There are beautiful walks all the way to the top of the island and the resort is modern and very comfortable. The island has its own reef which was lovely to see and snorkel through. Due to its location it was easy to get out to the outer reef and your already half way there.

“Wiil be back”

The resort is great I would recommend it to any and everyone the staff are great and the food is great value and very tasty, it is great just to kick back and watch the world go bye, there are a few great walks to do and you can see coral by swimming just off shore. Getting there by boat takes approx 45min there are couple of boats that go there we went by Raging Thunder they also operate the hire business on the island and unlike the other boats they stay close to the main land on the way there and back so there seemed to be less rick of getting sea sick. On a whole i will be back the Fitzroy Island as seen as possible.

“Lovely tropical island resort”

The Fitzroy Island Resort is a gem. It's a fairly new resort (open approximately 6 months), so it wasn't too busy yet. Fitzroy Island is a National Park, with dense rainforest on the side where the resort is located. There are 4 nice hiking trails through the rainforest. You take a 45-minute ferry from Cairns to get over there, arriving in the morning and leaving on the afternoon of your last day. The hotel is very modern. We stayed in a lovely moderately priced one-bedroom suite, with living area and kitchenette. The hotel restaurant has delicious food, but it's a bit pricey to eat 3 meals per day. So if you want to bring your own breakfast and lunch food over from Cairns, you can store it in the suite's refrigerator. The general store on the island only has snack foods. The resort has a wonderful dive shop with great dive staff. You can snorkel right off the shore, or take a boat ride around the side of the island to snorkel or scuba dive on a good size reef. They also have a glass bottom boat for viewing coral and fish either daytime or nighttime (where they shine lights on the coral). The dive shop can also arrange a dive trip to the outer reef, which I did one day. The place is incredibly beautiful, and the staff were lovely. I was very sad to leave after our 3 days there.
