Leuven Accommodation / Rock Werchter 2014Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: Although outside Leuven centre, it is very easily accessible by train, taxi, bus or on foot.
Cons: Reception gave us a map & directions for reaching the town centre, but hand-outs with information on bus & train times would've been helpful too.
Location: Leuven city centre has quite superb old squares with first class old pubs & restaurants. Heverlee on Sunday mornings has a busy street market.
My party of four travelled to Belgium from Aberdeen and stayed in two rooms at the Boardhouse in Leuven as our base for the 2014 Rock Werchter festival. The hotel location is in a pleasant suburb called Heverlee, which has numerous shops, cafes and pubs close by and is a five minute walk from its own railway platform, just one stop away from Leuven Central. There are also frequent buses into the town centre, which is alternatively a 30 minute walk through suburban Heverlee and the lovely university quarters into the splendid centre. We got back to Leuven most nights from the festival around midnight and either took taxis back to the residence or walked through the streets which were always quite busy and felt very safe. The lodgings themselves (which are more centrally located in Heverlee, five minutes’ walk from the hotel reception & main building) were a delight to get back to, especially on the days that were rainy. Our rooms were spacious and clean, and although we didn’t use the cooking facilities in the rooms, I did use the free washing machine and dryer in the basement – very convenient once the festival site became muddy. The hotel management and staff were really welcoming, friendly and helpful, and our entire experience in Leuven was really pleasant. The Festival was a huge success, and having the Boardhouse and Heverlee as our home from home really added to the whole experience. Book early for Rock Werchter 2015!

Close to KU campusPosted May 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great location if you have business at the university. However, the picture posted on hotel.com (the reason I chose this location) was not actually a picute of the hotel, at least the location where my room was located. The room was great, though. The buffet was not worth the money.

Very good for a 3 star hotelPosted Aug 8, 2012 on Hotels.com
Probably 15 to 20 minutes walk to the center. Parking very easy near the hotel. Great breakfast as well. Highly recommend

A gemPosted Jul 2, 2012
Location: Outside the centre, but easily accessible with a 15 minute stroll
This was a delightful hotel, without any doubt the best of our two week trip to Europe. Although we had what was billed as the 'standard' room in the Boardhouse - a 2 minute walk from the main hotel - everything about the room was perfect. The decor was understatedly elegant and modern, it was in pristine condition, the breakfast was wonderful, the staff were engaging and helpful, and the hotel's location was an easy 15 minute walk to the centre of the city. I would recommend this hotel to anyone considering a visit to Leuven - which, by the way, is itself a delightful and vibrant little city to visit.

Apartment hotel in LeuvenPosted Mar 27, 2012
Pros: Good sized room, own kitchen and lovely bathroom
Cons: A bit of a walk in to town - but nothing too strenuous
Location: A little out of town so rather quiet. No cafes very close so make use of the kitchen and buy stuff for your breakfast.
I got the apartment - so it was a little bit away from the main hotel. However it was worth the short walk. The room was large with an equally large bathroom - incl a jaccuzi bath. The apartment also had a fully equipped kitchen area to prepare your own food, incl microwave, 2-hob cooker with cutlery and crockery. It should be said that it is a little outside of the centre of town - about a 15/20 min walk or a 5 min bus ride (the 1 and the 2 go to the station through town). Also on Sunday morning there was a market in the square outside which woke me a little earlier than I had planned. But the inconvience was more than made up for by the chance to buy some fresh pasteries for breakfast! Overall I rate the room very highly.
