“Great hotel in Florence”
This hotel was wonderful. It is very close to the train station and an easy walk to the local attractions. There are several restaurants nearby and the staff was very helpful. The breakfast was good too.
“Hotel Alba - a very comfortable and convenient base in Florence”
We chose hotel Alba on the strength of the high ratings given by previous expedia clients and we were not disappointed! We had requested adjoining rooms on the expedia booking form and we had a double and a twin next door to each other as requested. The hotel was extremely clean and the room fittings all appeared to be brand new. The breakfasts were very nice indeed and the whole hotel had a very welcoming atmosphere. We would definately recommend it and will be using it again ourselves for future visits to Florence. A good choice for guests arriving by train as it is only 5 minutes walk from the main station.
“Lovely hotel”
We had a room for four people (Room 001) which was fantastic, with a large double bed downstairs with plasma screen tv and fridge, and stairs to a mezzanine floor with two single beds, another TV and doors to a terrace with a table and chairs. Downstairs there was a large bathroom. It was perfect for four adults to stay in. The hotel reception staff were fantastic could not have been more helpful. The only down side was the grumpy waitress at breakfast on Sunday morning. However this would definitely not put us off staying there again. I have stayed at two other hotels in Florence and this is definitely the best I have been in.
“Excellent convenient hotel”
We found Alba Hotel easily - about 5 minutes walk from where the bus from Florence airport terminated in central Florence. We had asked for, and were allocated, a quiet room which overlooked the courtyard. The room was spacious with clean decor and a good-sized en-suite bathroom. The bed was slightly hard, but did not disturb a good nights' sleep. Staff were helpful and friendly, and checking in and out was extremely quick and easy. There was a good range of cereals, pastries, yoghurt, fruit juice, croissants etc for the continental breakfast. In the evening we enjoyed eating in the restaurant about 50 metres away, turning left from the hotel entrance - good food at a good price. In all, the hotel location and facilities exceeded our expectations, and helped make our stay in Florence enjoyable.
“Excellent value and great location.”
Staying at the Alba Hotel was a great choice for our brief two-day first time visit to Florence. As described by others, the location is a short walk to the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi. Throughout our stay we were greeted by the friendly desk staff when entering or leaving the hotel. Our room was very clean, and despite the fact that we were in the front of the building, it was relatively quiet. Breakfast was good. A great small hotel in the heart of Florence.
“An Excellent Hotel”
We stayed here for a week and enjoyed every minute. Great location and service, the staff were very helpful and the day shift always spoke English. Mini bar costs were low as were local phone calls. We had a split level room with the children upstairs in their own loft with adjoining balcony and we had a massive bed downstairs close to the very large bathroom with Jacuzzi / Shower and two sinks. Ask for room 002. I think they must turn the air conditioning off in winter and the room seemed to get quite hot around 3am. Highly recommended.
“Perfect hotel for a few days in Florence.”
We were not disappointed with the Alba Palace, having read previous good reviews on Expedia before we went. They couldn't have been more helpful - we arrived early in the morning having taken the sleeper train from Paris but they had one of our two rooms ready so we could leave our things and freshen up before heading for a coffee in the sunshine. The other room was ready at midday. The room was comfortable and spotless. We had rooms at the front but the street noise was unnoticeable with the double glazing. Very close to the centre, in fact just around the corner from Santa Maria Novella, so we could walk everywhere easily and the cafe 100 yards down on the left is as good as everyone else has said it it! Would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.
“Wonderful place to stay”
This wonderful hotel gives you the most value for your buck, at least that's our experience during our honeymoon in Italy. Concierge is very friendly (all of them actually) and wonderful breakfast buffet. While the room is not the most luxurious, the bed is comfortable and clean. The room is also quite large for European standards and even includes a LCD TV. The only very minor gripe I have about our stay is that the walls are quite thin so you can pretty much hear people walking by the corridor or running water from the next room. Not terribly noisy if you're already tired from touring around the city all day. We've had pretty good sleeps here too. Location of this hotel is a little bit away (not too bad) from the city center but still only about a 10 to 15 walk to duomo. It's very close to the train station (3 min walk), however, so that's a big plus. In all a wonderful place to stay, and I'd definitely come back again.
“Awesome...a true hidden gem”
Hotel Alba (aka Hotel Alba Palace), www.hotelalbafirenze.it is absolutely wonderful. Stayed 3 nights in a great little room overlooking the street; not too noisy considering it's on a busy street about 2 blocks from the train station. They give great directions on their website on how to get to the hotel on foot; literally cross the street, down the street make a left and you're there. Booked a single and got a small double. Room is small, but average in size for Europe. Incredibly clean. Hardwood floors. Newly upgraded & tiled bathroom; about the size of a cruise ship bathroom with a tiny but modern shower. Toilet had a bidet attachment. Flatscreen TV on the wall; only English channels were CNN Europe & BBC News...but I wasn't here to watch TV! Breakfast room is sunny & cheerful with great selection of cereals, breats, cold cuts & fruit. Very accomodating staff and housekeeping was terrific. Can't say enough about this place. A steal, even with the weak dollar. Would definitely stay again.
“Fantastic Hotel!”
We had such a great time at the Alba Hotel. We stayed in the family room and it was amazing! There were two floors, a room with a jacuzzi, 2 flat screen tvs and the room was spotless. The staff was so friendly and there was free internet access and a nice buffet breakfast. We would definitely stay at the Alba again!
