“Villa Dannunzio”

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff. Concierge spoke fluent English. Room was wonderful. Breakfast was good. Only areas for improvement: 1) Better directions to hotel 2) Remove listing for hotel shuttle to center of town; bus stop is 1 block away.

“If staying in Florence, I'll go back here.”

Only stayed one night, but it was lovely. Satff were very friendly, room comfortable,with agreat bathroom. Quiet location, greta facilities.

“Highly recommended”

Situated in a quiet, but easy to get to area, it is a most pleasant hotel. Lovely pool that was welcome after a day's sightseeing. Clean and well maintained. Friendly, hepful staff. Our room was lovely.

“The pefect location to see Florence.”

This hotel is the perfect location from which to see Florence and the surrounding area. It is only a ten minute bus ride into the city with the bus stopping just 200 yards from the hotel. It is also very handy for the more rural attractions such as Fiesole, a beautiful hill town with magnificent views. Hotel staff could not have been more helpful and courteous - nothing was too much trouble for them. The pool was lovely - large with plenty of sunbeds, etc and free loan of beach towels. Even in the middle of August the pool was quiet as most people were sightseeing. Guests were mostly Italian with some French and Dutch, and a few German and English. Local restaurants were of mixed quality, but avoid the Grappolla just around the corner from the hotel - our 2 meals there were dreadful. The Pepo in Via Rosa in Florence serves heavenly food and has a great ambience and very reasonable prices.

“Great hotel and lovely grounds”

Hotel came up to expectations. Clean towels every day, great friendly service. I have to say that I think this is the cleanest hotel we have stayed in! Also the lighting over the sink was the best I have used ever in a hotel, so girls you can apply your makeup knowing it will be just right! Breakfast was more than adequate. The pool was very clean and the hotel supplied towels for swimming. We had to change rooms after a few days as it was over reception and the coaches coming in at night disturbed us, the new room was great! Shops and restaurants were mostly closed near the hotel as the Italians go on holiday in August, so we had to go to Florence to eat. Although bus 10 came regularly it was a bit of a pain going into Florence each day! Although cars are great for seeing other areas, it is best to go into Florence by bus as the parking charges are very high!

“Comfortable”

Our room was large and comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good.However direction to hotel needs to be improved, very difficult to find!.I would suggest a car is required.This hotel is not near shops or eateries.Hotel staff were helpful, spoke English.The pool area needs attention,maintance of garden area, we found it very untidy.

“It`s good”

Although out of town, the Italian bus service is very good with route 10, bus stop 2mins from the hotel, operating 3 times an hour. Route 17, 5/8 mins walk, operating every 5 mins. A very pleasant stay spoilt only by being ripped-off when settling the bill and their unwillingness to help. I would definitely stay again but pay for every item when purchased.

“Florence's Best Western”

Classified as 4 star. No restaurant (good breakfast buffet only). Bar which shuts at 11 pm. One of the double rooms occupied by a couple in my party was very small. "Just managed to get the bed into the room". Lot of noise, especially in the early mornings when overnight tour guests are leaving. Reception area chaotic when bus tour groups arrive (most evenings). Nice swimming pool. Clean hotel. Polite, helpful staff with good English. 20 minute bus ride from city centre. Although this is a nice hotel, I do not think it qualifies as a 4 star one. 2 star would have been more appropriate.

“Not a 4*”

stayed here at the end of august. This is not a 4* hotel! This is a 2*. Room was good size but no bath, just a shower, breakfasts were the same each day with no hot food just continental style and no food served otherwise during the day. Bar only seemed to be open in the evenings. The pool was quite a good size but only 3 loungers and then plastic chairs and in the week we were there we never saw anybody cleaning it and it was quite dirty by the time we left! If you want a 4* star hotel go elsewhere, if you're happy with 2* then it will be ok for you.

“Impressive setting”

Hotel was 25 minutes or so from airport which cost about 30 euros by taxi (including 7.50 charge for luggage). Hotel was 3km from Firenze centre involving a 20 minute bus ride or 15 minute taxi for about 15 euros. Hotel very pleasant but very hard beds and with hard tiled floors you hear anyone being noisy nearby. The local fire/police/ambulances have very loud sirens which you can also hear. Check-in/out was easy and english well spoken. Breakfast was more than ample continental style. Everything in good order, clean and wholesome but out of town location not so convenient for sight-seeing.
