“Decent Hotel - Trying Hard”
This hotel was a fine choice. It fit our needs and comforts just fine. Seemed like maybe it was an upstart hotel trying to get itself going. Some of the floors and rooftop terrace were not complete yet but everything that was complete was very nice. I do think they could benefit from having a bartender at the bar all the time. Several times we tried to get a drink prior to hitting the sites and there was no one there to serve us - although it was supposed to be open.....
“No Air Cond and Plastic Chairs”
We were informed at check in that the air conditioning was broken with 90+ degree heat for our entire stay. Not only that but they worked on it directly above our room until after midnight each night dropping pipe fittings and tools and scurrying like mice. When we called the front desk they were unwilling to ask them to stop so we could sleep. Bit by mosquitos with the window open for added fun. The lobby chairs are completely plastic with no cushion. Cute facade and middle location but would definitely not come back.
“Location isn't everything!”
My girlfriend and I recently stayed several nights at the hotel. From the taxi ride to the hotel, we could tell that we were in easy walking distance to most of the major points of interest in the city. However, the pro's of this hotel stop there... Upon checking in, we were notified that the elevator was broken and our room was on the top floor. This may not seem like that big of a deal, but it got old fast. The AC in our room was also broken. When we called the front desk, they advised us to just close the curtains to block the sun (as if that would really solve the problem). The bed was like sleeping on a rock covered in burlap and the shower controls were broken as well. Aside from a great location and a very cool lobby, we were very let down by this hotel.
“not impressed at ALL”
lack of cleanliness, AC broken in the room and leaking, room is TOO small.
“Loved this hotel”
Florence is a small town, especially the historic district. This hotel is only blocks away from the main attractions/museums. Eventhough when I visited, Florence was packed with tourists, once you turned the corner onto the hotel's street, they practically vanished! So the final steps towards the hotel were tranquil and comfortable. The room was just what I wanted: sleek, modern, chic, but not minimalist. I am not into old hotels in Europe - I don't believe that the "European experience" should include staying at an "old" hotel, with so-so services, amenities, bathrooms, furnishings, etc. just because that's what being in Europe is all about. Unless, you are staying at a grand old 5 star hotel - with the corresponding price tag! Instead, I much prefer this hotel's style, which offers a modernist twist housed within an orginal Florentine palace.
“Compelling blend of old and new”
The Borghese Palace Art Hotel offers a modern, artful retreat in old world Florence. The property is within easy walking distance of the Uffizi, the Piazza Della Signoria, the Duomo, and other major attractions such as the Bargello Museum and Santa Croce. The staff was helpful, the room (a junior suite) was clean and spacious, and the breakfast was surprisingly substantial.
“Great Location!”
The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The single room was a typical European room, but was very clean and stylish. However, the location couldn't be beat, it was walking distance to everything.
“The Good and Bad”
The staff was pleasant and helpful. Our room was upgraded upon check-in. One staff member was particularly nice and tried very hard to make amends for some service problems. Location was great - convenient to all the good sights and in a very nice, safe area of the city. Rooms were comfy enough and a reasonable size. The elevator didn't work twice while we were there. A reading light over the bed was burnt out and nobody noticed. The satellite TV didn't work for two days and when they repaired it, our TV had a loud piercing noise on all the channels. They couldn't fix it and didn't seem to care that it didn't work. Internet service is available in the main meeting room, but with a paid 5 euro internet access card. The free continental breakfast was mediocre at best.
