Not a Hotel but a Youth Hostel

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Provide wifi and treat guests as though it were really 4 start hotel. Over 100 Euros a night is ridiculous for what is in fact a youth hostel.
Because of the Hotel's refusal to provide room based wifi the lobby was full of teenagers 24 hours a day. This is not good enough for a so called 4 star hotel. The noise was continual plus it was almost impossible to find a seat to sit down. The breakfast was dreadful. Stale bread and inedible scrambled eggs do not provide a great start to the day. Again at over 100 Euros a night everything should be memorable for positive reasons.

Perfectly located nicely presented hotel

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Enjoyed a great 5 night stay in the Astoria hotel in the centre of Florence. The hotel is ideally situated 5 mins from Il Duomo and the train station. While the hotel is not awash with different facilities, it is a beautiful hotel with large comfortable rooms and very helpful and friendly staff. The rooftop bar is not to be missed offering exceptional views of the city. Breakfast is nice and varied however as we are out in the evenings I can't comment on the evening meals. Overall can't fault the hotel and would definitely recommend.

First time in Florence.

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: It's great position and it's d├ęcor.
Cons: They could do with more than one computer in the lobby.
Location: It is so central and convenient for all the sights and the station.
The hotel is very convenient for the railway and bus station and very central for the shops, market and attractions. The staff are very helpful and a wonderful selection for breakfast.

Nice hotel, within walking to sites

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The friendliness of the staff and the roof top bar
Cons: Tea and Coffee facility for breakfast
Excellent location, hotel was very clean and very friendly helpful staff. Buffet breakfast quite basic but adequate. Tea/coffee facility could be better.

Location good for all parts of Florence

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Cons: Internet facilities
Location: Everything
Close to station , food market, good restaurants and shops yet not a thoroughfare. Easy access to all sites 5 minutes to Duomo for example. Built in 1580 this is an old building that has been reasonably converted to a hotel. Original features make it authentic for Florence, Poor internet , no hot drink facilities in the room Good breakfast and helpful staff Would stay there again but want a room with a view onto the courtyard , we had a small view because we were in a corner on level 1 Good air conditioning

Nice hotel with great location

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: The rooftop deck was breathtaking.
Cons: The only negative would be the wifi was only available in the lobby.
The online photos of the hotel were accurate. The room and bathroom were large compared to European standards. The breakfasts were plentiful and served in a beautiful rooom. The hotel staff was very accommodating in helping arrange museum passes.

Selling feature - Terrace - V. Disappointing!

Posted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Staff were very helpful, but you did get the sense there were not enough to cope with the number of guests.
Cons: See above
Location: City centre so close to everything. Day starts early with deliveries just after 6.30 and nothing done very quietly ....
Promotion suggests evening meals on the Terrace - forget it. Never found the bar open and with the facilities franchised out, even the shading umbrellas stayed firmly closed. Only two evenings had any activity and they were private functions with residents made to feel very unwelcome for even wanting to take the air after very hot days. Very disappointing given this is the photo used to promote this hotel. Other facilities OK, but definitely not the four stars we were led to believe.

Very central hotel

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: Friendly, comfortable and very clean.
Cons: See above
Location: Could not have been more convenient for sightseeing, 2 minutes from Duomo for example and similar distance from Railway station
Although very convenient and thoroughly comfortable, it was a little on the expensive side. No Wifi in rooms, only in central lobby area and even that not fantastic (a bit public for Skype calls). In regard to eco friendliness, the hotel needs to encourage customers not to change their towels every day and tell the cleaning staff not to put the air conditioning on when guests are out for the day. This would save no end of money and help to protect the environment.
