Cheap hotel in good locationPosted Sep 28, 2013
Pros: Location and price
Cons: Does need updating in the decor and facilities
Location: Walking distance to the Duomo and all the other tourist sites in Florence, definitely do a small group walking guided tour of this city.
The hotel is in a great location within walking distance to all the main sites and restaurants, but be warned it is hard to find, look for hotel Cardinal instead. The Chiazza is in a different location to reception and the breakfast room and there is three different sets of keys to three different doors to get in and out of your room. It was clean but very old and run down with basic facilities. Pack light as there is lots of stairs to reception and then back down to the hotel rooms.

Close to everythingPosted Sep 1, 2013
Good location really close to duomo's square. The room are a bit small but considering you are in heart of Florence it's understandable. Great staffs he price are a bit expansive due to the central location .

Really friendlyPosted Jun 17, 2013
Great location and really hospitable. It is up a few flights of steps, so that might be a problem if you have a lot of bags. If you can, check what room you are in before carrying your bags up to reception, as we were in a room that you went into from another entrance.

Good place for the money.Posted May 28, 2013
Pros: It was close to the centre of the city and we could go in for a rest when tired.
Cons: The mattress was a little hard and only one small pillow per person.
Location: Perfect location to visit Florence. Nice restaurant suggested by reception.
Finding the place was a little difficult since the reception is next door and the sign that has the name of the hotel is very small. It is a clean place and while not luxurious the price was quite affordable and the location was perfect. Breakfast was very good and hotel people nice.

Great hotelPosted Sep 20, 2012
Pros: air conditioned room and breakfast included
Location: 5 mins away from the main square and close to everything
Hotel was great and the staff were fantastic, they spoke really good english (a bonus as i dont speak italian), when i arrived they allowed me to use one of the other rooms to freshen up as mine wasnt ready yet and looked after my luggage for the afternoon and the same the day i checked out. Breakfast was included and the room was air conditioned! The whole place was clean and nice, i had a fab time and would recommend this place to anyone. The hotel is only a 5 min walk from the main attractions, and the hotel staff also provided me with a map, couldnt have asked for anything more.

Just far enough from the crowdsPosted Jul 16, 2012 on Hotels.com
Make sure and have your directions checked before going as Chiazza isn't sign posted. Look for Hotel Cardinal! After that, you're in for a nice stay. Just far enough from the major attractions to be quiet but Florence is so small, you're never far away from anything. Nice and quiet spot with helpful staff and a comfortable room. Wifi only in main hotel part and a little hit and miss if you are planning your activities on your computer/ipad each day

Don't hurry to lug your suitcases upstairs.Posted Apr 24, 2012 on Hotels.com
This is not a regular hotel, so don't hurry to lug your suitcases upstairs. There's no elevator and the "lobby" is on the 3 (or 4th) floor. The front desk kid was nice and helped to carry our suitcases down and to the converted aptmt next door - also part of this B and B. He (and the woman on the morning shift) were VERY nice and helped us to sort out our excursion vouchers for the next day. Even called the tour operator! The rooms are large and nice/clean. The view from the breakfast room - wonderful! The street below may be noisy (there's clubs in the vicinity), but overall good B&B.

LovelyPosted Sep 2, 2011
I stayed here for one night this week before my study abroad program began. Called up when I got there, and the receptionist came downstairs with my keys, so I didn't have to drag my luggage up 3 flights of stairs! She was extremely kind and spoke excellent English. The room was very secure, I was in a separate building and so had three locked doors between myself and the street. It was actually a fairly large room for a European hotel! It was very clean and air-conditioned, and there were extra blankets and pillows. The bathroom was small and the TV remote didn't work, but really no complaints for the price and the location; a two-minute walk from either the Duomo or Santa Croce! Breakfast was also included, simple but filling, with cereal, pastries, yogurt, etc. Very impressed!

Basic hotel in heart of FlorencePosted Aug 23, 2011 on Hotels.com
Here the name is Chiazza, in the real world the name is Cardinal Hotel. It was hard to find, both by car and by walking but if you find it, it's a clean hotel with basic standard for a 3-star hotel. The lady in the lobby was a treat; very nice and welcoming. Location is superb, yet hidden.

Great value centrally located hotel in FlorencePosted Jun 8, 2011
The hotel is ideally located within about 500 metres of the Douomo and within easy walking distance to the central train station. Staff were exceptionally helpful and spoke great English (recommended a restaurant which turned out to have the best food we ate in Italy). Our room was a bit dated but very clean and cofortable. Breakfast was good compared to what hotels usually offer (the staff are also happy to make you a proper espresso or cappuchino if you're not keen on the machine stuff). One thing to take note of is that it's not that easy to find. You need to go up the stairs of number 5 borgo pinti and enquire at the hotel cardinal reception.
