A good hotel in a great central position

Posted Oct 9, 2014
We had a lovely break in florence last weekend. Hotel Cavour was in a very central position, 3 mins from the Duomo and 5 mins walk from the Ponte Vecchio. Breakfast was great and lots of it. Rooftop bar is a beautiful place to sit and watch the sun go down over the city and considering it's a central hotel bar the prices are reasonable. We had an outside facing room initially but the street was very loud so we asked to be moved to an internal room which they did no problems and then we had a great few nights sleep. The concierge was fabulous, perfect english and recommended some fantastic locals restaurants.

Security Issue

Posted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: location and breakfast
Cons: Security
Location: it is in a very central location very close to the Duomo
This is my 4th stary in Florence at this hotel. I obviously chose this hotel because I thought it was good overall value. It was until this last trip. Within the first few hours of my arrival, the someone came into my hotel room while I was out at dinner and stole my Macbook Air & iPad right out of the room. There were no signs of break in so someone has a key to the rooms. Let me put it in perspective, the location of this hotel is excellent and the breakfast is great. The room itselves are a bit dark and depressing but overall, I found value in the hotel for what you pay in Florence. But not that I feel like the hotel does not have a grip on their security, it's a different story. When I spoke to the manager, she told me that it happened to another guest exact same way and that the police told them this has been a problem in many hotels in this city. Well, when I went to go make the police report, the police had a different story. He wasn't aware of any issue like that and he felt the hotel has the full responsibility to make sure their hotel is safe especially in the matter of keys. For a 4 star hotel, he found it surprising.

Fab location

Pros: The central location, and the standard was excellent.
Cons: We were a little surprised that the price of a cocktail differed by 2 Euros (more) when you had the same drink at the stunning rooftop terrace.
Location: Central location so ideal for exploring all the wonderful sights of Florence.
Superb hotel for our first visit to beautiful Florence, location perfect for exploring the city's sights and plethora of restaurants. We had a superior double room with a great view of the tower of the church next door to the hotel. Staff superb, friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Only downside was the tiny shower room we had.

Good location but service disappointing

Posted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Level of service, staff congeniality, functionality of rooms
Location: Great location for major sites in Florence
We spent three nights at the hotel and were disappointed in the overall quality of the facility and service. The hotel was considerably more expensive than others we had stayed at in Italy and the overall quality did not reflect that. The room size was adequate and was quiet facing on to an interior courtyard. The room was sparsely decorated in a modern style. The bathroom fixtures were modern and fashionable but the lighting was totally inadequate and there was no place to hang towels or place place bathroom accessories. The lighting in the room was very poor making it challenging to perform many routine activities and making reading difficult. The breakfast buffet was standard and the service slow and unenthusiastic. The front desk staff was accommodating and helpful. The hotel advertises its' "roof top terrace" as a significant feature however this turned out to be somewhat inaccessible (a flight of stairs after lift, limited chairs) and less than spectacular views. The location is excellent with easy access to most of the major sites of Florence.

Excellent hotel close to the sights of Florence

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: This us a well run, clean, elegant and sophisticated hotel. The staff were friendly and answered questions about restaurants and booked them for us.
Cons: Breakfast could be a little chaotic, as demand can outstrip supply. The staff will catch up though.
Location: This hotel is between the Duomo and the Palazzo Vecchio, and all of the centre is close by, even the train station. Head towards Sta Croce to eat tho.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Cavour. I booked a superior twin room, which was clean, elegant and nicely air conditioned. The common areas were quite lavish, and my stay at the hotel was definitely a superior experience. Breakfast was a buffet, which was well made and varied, and served in elegant surroundings. The staff were professional and very helpful with queries. I would go back for sure.

Superb hotel truly in the centre of Florence

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location...
Cons: A better shower. Everything else was so perfect it didn't matter but would have been nice to have a nice powerful shower as well...
Location: Literally hundreds of restaurants and caf├ęs on the doorstep. A couple of hundred yards from the Duomo and central museums, a short walk to the river.
Hotel staff very helpful, valet parking the car on arrival and taking all the stress out of checking in. Room was really 'funky', with four poster bed and nice fittings. Breakfast was excellent, in really nice room, with direct access to the street, which is only yards from the main Piazzas and museums.
