“Elegance of Another Era”

This hotel has it all: beauty, charm, excellenct service and a fine kitchen all set in a beautiful area of Florence which is quiet. The swimming pool is a real bonus. The Ponte Vecchio is about a 20 minute walk with the Pitti Palace along the way, but free car service is available from the hotel as well. We kept up with our email at the Internet shop across from the Pitti Palace. The Concierge was straight from central casting, full of charm and wisdom and who could arrange anything.

“Absolutely finest service”

This place is of extremely high quality. We had the fortune of being the very 2nd guest since it was reopened after a 3 year renovation (so not all facilities were on line yet, such as the sauna) and yet found the hotel one of the best we have ever seen! First of all, the quality of service is very high and professional. The fact that it's a small hotel makes the staff much more friendlier compared to the large and professional places like Four Seasons or St. Regis. Also, the property itself is very historical and amazingly decorated (most of it in its original form from 19th century) so you get a very pleasant atmosphere. While it's not walking distance to central Florence, they provided a luxury car service to the town every day so it was easy to commute. And lastly, their restaurant was pretty good. We had a fantastic dinner there one night (Our special thanks to the hotel's finest waiter - Mr. J. Pietro!) I recommend this place to everyone who wants to have a high class stay in Florence in tune with its history, at a reasonable price...

“Romantic Italian Stay”

My husband and I stayed in an alternate (pink in the picture) building which was beautifully restored and in pristine condition. The intricate window treatments and bedding were freshly cleaned. The grounds are maintained well and planted in a style that matches the mood of the hotel. The pool looked exquisite and inviting, but we were too busy sight-seeing to use it. We ate one dinner at the hotel and it was excellent.

“Horrible hotel”

This hotel is a joke. This hotel is 10 minutes from main attractions by car. It cost a fee (10 euro) to have a taxi pick you up and take you there plus the meter amount another 15 euro. There is a car to take you there during the day but not after 5:00 PM so good luck if you want to go to dinner and get ripped off. The concierge has no clue what a good restaurant is. Every restaurant in Florence was packed except the one he sent us to, and the food was the worse we had during a 2 week stay in Italy. The electricity in the room kept going in and out. Overall this is the worst hotel I have stayed in in over 10 years.

“Rude and unhelpful staff”

I would not recommend this hotel. Though very pretty, the lack of guest service ruined my visit to Florence. The room air conditioning did not work very well, it stayed at about 82 degrees the entire time I was there. When I talked to the front desk they told me it was the same throughout the hotel and that there was nothing they could do about it. I found the front desk employees to be rude and not helpful. My boyfriend lost his wallet in a taxi while in Florence. When I asked the front desk if they could help me calling the taxi companies they gave me a list a numbers to call. When I was told by the taxi companies that they didn't speak English or understand my Italian I asked the front desk to please help me by translating. The front desk clerk called 2 numbers and then told me that I would need to continue calling throughout the night because there was nothing else he could do. The next morning, I asked another person at the front desk if she would call. She said she would handle it. When I returned there was no message from her nor did anyone know what I was talking about. For the amount of stars attributed to this hotel, I was expecting high quality service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
