“A Gem in Florence”

The Corona D'Italia was the second of our three stops in Italy (after Rome and prior to Venice). This spot is a gem for it's location, affordability, and quality of accommodations. Arriving by train from Rome, the Corona D'Italia is mere minutes by foot from the Santa Maria Novella station, located on Via Nazionale. While we arrived before noon, we were pleased to find our room ready to go. Our room first floor (not ground level) room had a shuttered window that opened onto a small courtyard and provided soothing cool air. The full sized tub and shower were a nice plus, as out traveling companions had only a stall shower in their room, albeit a large one. The room size provided ample space to lay out suitcases. Each morning we began the day with a delicious breakfast that included hard-boiled eggs, a selection of meats, fresh fruit and yogurt, pastries, and cappucino, cafe latte, cafe Americain, or tea. Immediately to the left of the hotel entrance was one of Florence's street markets that featured goods from scarves to fine leather products. Also on this street is the famed Mercato Centrale food market, a must visit. All of Florence was within walking distance, and walking is really the only way to truly see this magnificent city. The Corona D'Italia provides the perfect starting point for walks to the Ponte Vecchio, Piazzale Michelangelo, Uffizi Gallery, and all the wonderful sights of Florence. I heartily recommend the Corona D'Italia.

“Wonderful Stay!”

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Only a 5 minute walk from the train station (which looks like a safe clean neighborhood to walk in). It was conveniently located to all the major sights and was a wonderful find during the low season. They threw in a free American style continental breakfast (the Italian ones are just bread and coffee). Excellent coffee and a great buy. Very friendly staff especially when it came to leaving our bags their after our stay. The maitre'd was a gem. Can't wait to go back!

“Scary at First Glance but Nice Hotel in Good Location”

Seemingly scary location at night. Hard to find (one way streets everywhere) - get good directions. During day, near central merchant (souvenirs, etc..) district and close to Duomo and Galleria D'Academia (David statue). Nice sized room for 4 with largest bathroom (& smallest shower curtain) we had during our 3 week trip. In-room TV with mini-bar/fridge and safe a plus. Large window overlooking busy city street scene. Typical European continental breakfast but not very good (no croissants). Not overly friendly staff but speak English.

After coming from Rome and Paris, this hotel room actually looked like a hotel room not a tiny closet. It was spacious, and clean. The breakfast was not too great, I say skip it and it's noisy since it's on a busy street. But this also means it is close to everything. Just a few blocks from the train station, which is important.

“Hotel service”

Especially receptionist was not kind person. we asked some questions but he was not good enough to do.

The room was clean but the mattress vas very old and not comfortable. I could feel the springs of the mattress. Hotel is in good location close to everything, the room was big and the restroom was clean. The only problem was the bed.

“Rude and lack of interest in guests or state of hotel”

When we arrived we were shocked by how rude the receptionis was. He more or less ignored us while he carried on joking with the other receptionist. When we got to our room we found it to be good enough except for the fact that the mini bar didn't work. We told the receptionist about this on our way out that evening but he wasn't interested and didn't even write our room number down. When we returned no one had looked at it so we asked for some cold wine to drink in the room. They refused but gave us some ice. The same thing happened the next day and when we complained as we were leaving the receptionist had no interest, he just shrugged his shoulders and ignored us.
