Depends on what your needs are...Posted Jul 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
My husband and I went to Italy for our honeymoon, a year after our wedding. We saved like crazy and we wanted to be able to spend our money on experiences, not overpriced hotels. That's how we found this place. So when we heard that this hotel is located literally 500 feet from the Duomo, we thought this would be great because you can stop in & refresh any time & continue with your day. We found this:The people at the desk are completely indifferent to their clients. The air conditioning was turned off via a circuit breaker punctually at 7:30 every morning and not turned on again until after 5.Great incentive to get up and out. Breakfast is packaged stuff. We did have a fridge in our room and purchased breakfast items that were fresh. Room was large and we enjoyed that. The shutters completely block out light, so good for sleeping in that regard.Free internet which is advertised can be accessed in the front hallway near the desk or in the breakfast room, but can only be accessed for two hours at a time and you need a code for each time.

You can't beat this location. However, aside from the location, there's very little merit to this hotel. Breakfast was an overstatement, it is so bad that we dread having it. THERE IS NO WIFI that you can pick up in room! Disregard what the inn-keeper tells you, you can't pick up the signal in your room. You can get access (but have to ask the inn-keeper to give you a new password every time you want it) in the common area where others may be present. The air condition isn't going to help much during the afternoons, I think they need major maintenance. But you can't leave the windows open, because mosquitoes is a huge problem but they won't tell you. No mosquito net is offered or equipped. My take is that you either live with nature and have mosquito nets and open windows, or a good air condition so you can keep your windows closed. Also, there are huge moths all over town when we visited, so they will get into your room if you leave the windows open (had to get a few out, gross!) To sum this up, all you get from this hotel is a bed at a good location, nothing more.

Close to the must-see sights inPosted May 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
This was the second hotel I stayed in Florence and while the room and bathroom we both large, there was a smell that came from the bathroom that was not nice. I opened the windows to help move the smell on, however this did not always work. The hotel was busy so could not switch to another room. The bed was okay, however extra pillows would have been nice. The hotel people were friendly and held my bags for me on my last day. The location is perfect for the Duomo and then all the major sites in Florence.

Hotel Constantini, Florence- basic but good valuePosted Nov 5, 2011 on Hotels.com
We needed a city centre location and we got it - just a few steps from the Duomo. The room is basic but spotlessly clean. The bathroom appears to have been modernised recently - quite adequate for our needs. (Good quality towels). The breakfast is just ok - I would suggest just having a quick coffee and going elsewhere for something appetising. The downside is that this hotel on a very busy pedestrianised street and there was a lot of street noise at night as we were there during the Hallowee'en break - so, it appeared, was most of Italy. Also, until the owner's children went to sleep at night, you could hear their conversations clearly from the corridor. This didn't really bother us until the last night, when we went to bed quite early because of an early flight next morning. The owners, though initially very reserved, thawed out with time. Overall, you get what you pay for. We didn't need luxury for this very short trip and we couldn't have had a better place from which to walk to all the sights.

Small but CheapPosted Sep 22, 2011 on Hotels.com
Small room, but clean and excellently located. Good budget hotel. Hard to find; the name of the hotel is not on the building.

Cannot beat the location, but not glamorousPosted May 15, 2011
You get what it says on the tin - it's a 2 star, it's in an unbeatable location, the building is genuinely old, the staff were friendly and helpful enough without being effusive, the room we had was fairly basic, but very clean and as we'd expected for the price - shame we got a room with 4 single beds for a romantic holiday though! 30 second walk to the Duomo, 10/15 minutes from the train station depending on how heavy your bags are!

Best location/ best deal FlorencePosted Jul 13, 2007
Hotel Constantini is listed as a 2 star hotel - my husband and I can't believe it's not a 3 star hotel. It has to be the BEST location in Florence and at such an affordable price. Not only where the staff friendly and helpful but the towels were the thickest with a REAL shower. This hotel has been recently remodeled and while it's close proximity to the Duomo means it could be a little noisy - the double paned windows and shutters make it very quiet. It lies steps away from the Duomo and in the middle walking distance to both The Uffizi, Garibaldi Square and The Accademia. WOW what a find. The only things that could be improved would be adding fruit or protein (hard cooked eggs, cheese) to their nice breakfast. They are on the 2nd floor (our 3rd) but there is an elevator. What more could anyone want. If you go give Ivo our best - nice man - great English -great sense of humor.
