“A great place to stay outside of Venice”

Hotel del Lago is a beautiful old large villa outside of Venice. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. Parking is plentiful. Our room was large as was the bathroom, both of which were great. We arrived late at night (on a foggy night) by car and even though we had GPS we had a bit of challenge to find the country lane the hotel is located in. In fact, if you are driving (in Italy) I wouldn't attempt it without GPS! The hotel is only a few kms to the ferry which goes across to Venice and this was very easy. There are small villages all around where you can buy wine, cheese and your basic food needs. We did not have dinner at the hotel as it seemed expensive (although we were sure it would have been high quality). We would stay here again.

“Beautiful Hotel & Rural Location yet only 5 mins from local amenities”

We had a fantastic stay in Sept 2006, driving down from UK. Cannot understand some of the other reviews as the hotel & grounds were immaculate and the lake beautiful. Granted the shower was small by US standards but fine for anyone else (I'm 6ft 3) Rooms had shutters, wooden flooring, flatscreen TV and the rest of the hotel has gorgeous character throughout. Plenty of quiet places to sit out & relax in the evening & a good restaurant only a 5 minute walk away. We followed the directions & found the hotel first time - all roads good quality, only 10 mins from the autostrada and small towns & stations in the surrounding countryside. Staff very friendly & helpful. We will definitely go back & really cannot recommend it enough.

“Great place in peaceful setting”

The best part of the hotel is waking up in the morning, opening the shutters and listening to a cacophony of birds chirping and singing. The hotel has a resident peacock, pony, dogs outside near the lake but is also clean and well maintained on the inside. The breakfast was also very nice and the breakfast service excellent. There are free maps and guides provided at the side of reception for Siena, Florence and other nearby areas.

“Friendly Staff”

This hotel is in a beautiful section of the countryside. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly. There were many places to relax and look at the lake after a long day sight-seeing. There is a wonderful restruant about a mile down the road for lunch or dinner. Will stay there again if ever nearby.

“Charming simple hotel”

Loved this small simple hotel. Yes the owners really only speak italien but you are in Italy! More importantly, they are really helpful and friendly- when we left bleary eyed at 4 in the morning we disappointed the watchman as we were unable to stomach a cappucino! Slightly off the beaten track and all the better for it as it's surrounded by quiet tuscan countryside. The lake adjacent to the hotel does appear to be part of a dam complex but that's over on the far shore and people still enjoy recreational activities on the near side. The hotel is pet friendly and the owners cats and dogs do lie around the place but only adding to the laid back style. It's a perfect retreat from the madness of the tourist chaos that is Florence during the summer months. For some, it maybe important to note, that the rooms are not air conditioned. This isn't really a problem as its a traditionally built house with thick walls and window shutters which will keep the worst heat out during the day. The windows have mosquito screens so the cooler night air can be enjoyed. Bed mattresses are hard here but this is common. The decor is simple and traditional and is spotlessly clean. Look out for the odd peacock feather 'flower' arrangement which I would ascribe to the brightly coloured fellow who appears also wanders around the grounds.

“Picture perfect Italian country inn”

This is an Italian "Bed and Breakfast" Inn, located on a lake in a rural area. It is quiet and picturesque. It was a little hard to find but well worth the effort. There is a restaurant with the same name nearby serving a good Italian menu. The restaurant opens after 7:30 p.m.

“A Home Base in Chianti”

This hotel was quaint and charming. The staff captured the essence of the Tuscan lifestyle. They were healthy, glowing and warm. It was a great base to explore Tuscany. The walls were thin, but the rooms were clean and comfortable.

“Relax at Del Lago”

If you are driving this place would be ok since you can move around asotherwise you will be stuck since accessibilty to Florence would be difficult,why, going around would be at the mercy of the Hotel but the staffs are friendly and helpful.But that will not help if you want to get going!
