Weekend in Florence

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Hotel was very clean, an old building which had been cleverly converted to retain all the original features. Bit quirky but very appealing.
Cons: Reception have a midge/mosquito plug for each room but we had to ask for it, I would suggest they give them out with refills as we were badly bitten.
Location: We walked loads, side streets very interesting. The large square in front of the hotel seemed to be an evening meeting place for all cultures.
Hotel was very nicely placed for transport links and all the main attractions in Florence. The staff were helpful providing a map with walk to be able easily see sights, they advised on other walks and things to do, including where to eat. We had room 211 which was one of two with a small balcony overlooking the courtyard garden where we ate breakfast.

Nice hotel close to city centre.

Nice hotel close to the city centre with good continental breakfast. The staff was helpful. There is a kind of a food court in a walking distance from the hotel where you can find good food for a reasonable price. For disadvantages, the hotel listing included Wi-Fi and in room safe, however that was a surcharge.

Pros: Nice, clean hotel, close to the train station and the main city attractions. Our room was small but it was enough for two people to stay. The bathroom was new and clean. Cons: There were student groups staying in the hotel, they can be very noisy in the morning and especially at night!

Well placed for the city centre

The Donatello is what you might call "faded glory" but it fits well with the ambiance of the city. Clean rooms, friendly staff and a reasonable breakfast. I'd say value for money. From the map it looks a bit distant from the attractions but maps are deceptive and 15mins walk gets you to the Duomo plus there are several handy eating places that don't mark up for being central. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Brilliant location/ friendly staff

Had a lovely time staying at Hotel Donatello. Pro's: location couldn't be better, close to all the prime tourist locations but is a nice walk away from the centre so is nice & quiet. Friendly staff. Clean and cosy room. Breakfast is good. Hotel manager very friendly. Con's: front door opens rather slowly Highly recommend. Would rate at an 8 or a 9.. maybe even 9 and a half!!

Within Walking Distance of Everything

Posted Aug 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
A very conveniently located hotel in a safe neighborhood in front of a small city park. Pluses included the breakfast (seating inside or in a very peaceful courtyard), clean room, a/c that worked pretty well, lots of hot water, tile and marble floors, Wifi, very pleasant and helpful staff and literally everything was within walking distance. Minuses were our king-size bed (two singles linked together actually) which was very lumpy and lopsided, and also the room door did not close well (had to be slammed everytime). Easy fixes I would think. Nevertheless, we would stay there again.

Nice, but plain

Location: Plenty to do and see in the city
After doing a lot of walking in the city, it would have been nice to soak in a bath. Room only had a shower. Very limited television available too... I would look for a better hotel.
