“Great hotel for the price.”
We stayed here for 4 nights in June of 2010. The room was small but reasonable--our bathroom was huge. Reception is only staffed during the day--after hours you have to go to another hotel around the corner for service--this was no trouble. For the price this was a great choice for an air conditioned room with bath in Florence.
“Great hotel with very helpful front desk”
As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we felt very welcomed. The lady at the front desk speaks fluent English and is very kind and helpful with lots of tips for our trip in Florence and other areas in Tuscany. We received very useful information on sightseeing, transportation, dining and shopping. We also learned some Italian words from her. I would strongly recommended this hotel - affordable, clean and excellent location.
“Great little hotel”
The hotel was clean, with great air conditioning and in a convenient location.
“Good size & friendly staff, musty smell”
The hotel staff were very friendly. The room was a good size (with a very large bathroom!) and relatively quiet. The only negative was that the room had a slight musty smell - which quickly dissipated when we opened the windows, but then mosquitoes got it. Otherwise, a pleasant stay.
“good deal for the price”
the hotel is staffed only from 9am to 4 pm, after these hours you have to go to a nearby hotel ( situated next to the side of Santa Maria Novella) if you have a problem with the room or if you check in late to get the keys. that is really the only drawback but well worth the savings. the lady who staffed the hotel was very helpful, as the other reviewers noted. the room has an AC unit adjusted with a remote control and you should not forget to ask for it if you check in late, the room was clean and fairly comfortable, the bathroom was small, otherwise OK, everything worked and the room was quiet at night with the window closed although it was overlooking the street. last but not least, the location is great, close to the station and there are plenty of little restaurants around that are more affordable than in the center of town. the historical center of Florence is not far and easy to access on foot. definitely a good deal for the price! thanks again to the nice lady who staffed the hotel, I wish I remembered her name, whatever they pay her, she deserves a raise!
“Travel Ted”
Great budget hotel- ideal location for access to the Station and easy walking distance to the city attractions. The hotel staff were all really friendly, and helpful pointing out the best Florence attractions for our 1 1/2 day visit. The hotel & room/ bathroom were clean, and after a few hectic days in Rome it was great to be able to open the window and just hear bird song! No breakfast provided- but its easy enough to get one locally or Elite has a deal with a couple of their sister hotels for cheaper option if required. For the price you aren't going to get the Ritz but the hotel staff & location make it good value for money.
“Great location, great service and nice accommodations”
Hotel Elite was a great find. It was comfortable and clean and Nadia was fantastic. She was most helpful with food recommendations and sights to see. One downside was there was not an air conditioner in the room and if you left the windows open there were too many mosquitos. Also, there was noise from local business that was rather loud but quieted down later in the night.
“Acceptable”
Two blocks from the train station, It does not have elevator and you have to carry up you luggage. After 6 pm it is not anybody there to open the door, you have to pick it in a hotel close to the train station. The street looks dirt and not a good neighborhood but it is not, is safe and close to the main landmarks. The hotel is old but we just needed a clean and safe place to sleep, take a bath and keep our luggage.
“good location - clean and friendly”
Nardia's friendly personality - makes for a good first impression. Our room (No.9) was at the back of the hotel (No. 10, next door looked to be more in proportion). Although our room was small compared to others that we could see, by looking at the fire evacuation plan, it was adequate - and the shower room was twice the size. There is nothing to look out at from this room - so, the windows stayed shut (which is a good idea anyway at this time of year (early Sept), because of mosquito's. Everything was clean, the essential air conditioning was quiet - and we didn't hear any noise from other rooms or outside. I would recommend this hotel if you just want a 'base' for a short break (as we did).
“Basic hotel, good location, great staff”
No breakfast is included at this hotel but you can go to a sister hotel and pay for breakfast, which we did one day and it was a pretty good, if basic, cold buffet. The woman on reception was probably the most helpful receptionist I've ever met. She told us so much on the first day about what to see and do, and noted it all on a map for, that I think she must have doubled our enjoyment of the stay. The hotel is definitely basic and so we didn't feel like we were staying in luxury, but it was cosy enough, clean and practical. Free wi-fi was available but the only way to get any reception was to head down to the shared area in the hotel - trying to connect in the room was pointless. The location was pretty good - very close to a nice square and not too far to the main sights.
