A really NICE hotel!Posted Nov 7, 2013
Pros: The room and the fact there was a comfortable bath, the bar area near the lobby, with complementary snacks in the evening AND especially the staff!
Cons: I wish we had been offered a room with a balcony. We had not noticed there were such rooms and we would have paid more to get one.
Location: See above.. ease to get to the airport and ability to walk to tourist sights..
This was our last accommodation on a 6 week trip to Italy. We needed a hotel with easy access to the airport for an early flight and located well enough to walk to the sights we wanted to visited like the Duomo, the Accademia, etc.. We picked the Hotel Rapallo based on excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The quality is excelllent and the staff wonderfully attentive. My husband has dietary restrictions and they were fully accommodated by the staff. The room had character and was well equipped. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The hotel is on a busy street but with windows closed you could hear none of it. Our only disappointment was not to get a room with a balcony (there are some not on the street side too). Next time in Florence, we will be back.

Nice and very cost friendlyPosted Nov 5, 2013
Pros: Very clean and nice continental breakfast
Cons: More efficient air conditioning
Location: Great location
Overall great stay! Centrally located. Easy walk to train station and other landmarks like the Duomo. The air conditioning comes on only when you are in the room and your key card is in the slot/holder. If it is summertime I could imagine their a/c system might not be adequate. Very clean, very nice, spacious, professional and helpful staff. Stiff bed but that is the norm over there...so is the lack-luster a/c. Very pleased with my decision to stay there.

Perfect HotelPosted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: Hotel Rapallo was a comfortable family-run hotel with great staff and service.
Location: The hotel is close to the big market so that if you want to load up on purchases at the market you can easily run your packages back to the hotel.
Hotel Rapallo was a perfect place to stay. The location was not too close to the busy areas but was a nice walk to get to all the main attractions. The staff were all very friendly and offered great recommendations. The hotel and rooms were very clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was perfect and definitely all that anyone would need as well as an afternoon coffee/tea and snacks to relax with before going out for supper. We will most definitely return to Hotel Rapallo on our next visit to Florence and recommend it to anyone else wanting to experience this perfect hotel.

Very Good Hotel Near to StationPosted Nov 3, 2013
Pros: Nice hotel well furnished and comfortable. Easy walking distance from train and bus stations for outings to Lucca, Pisa, Sienna, etc.
Cons: Our room at front of hotel suffered some road noise at peak times and air con quite noisy
Location: Situated to North West of city centre, but only 15 mins walk from centre. Good location for several nearby trattoria and pizza restaurant.
Very nice hotel, about 10 mins walk from main station and 15 mins from centre of Florence. Helpful staff pre-booked tickets for Uffizi and generally made our stay very pleasant.

Nice Hotel - Sketchy Management - Would Not ReturnPosted Nov 2, 2013
Pros: --continued-- we were surprised. The extremely high pressure manager told us that we obviously knew the wine wasn't free and that it --continued--
Cons: was clearly marked. We informed him at no time did we see, hear or even get the hint that the wine wasn't complimentary to which he --continued--
Location: --continued-- responded with a huff and then pulled out a tiny wine price to show us. It just felt like a sleazy way to scam tourists out of money.
We found the Hotel itself to be pleasant. The location is a little far from the city center but it's an easy walk and there are some restaurants and bars not too far away. When we checked (a little late, around 8:00PM or so) in we were very pleased with the extremely friendly gentleman who was working at the hotel. It turned out he was the only one working as he checked us in, walked us a block down to park the car in another building and then offered us each (my finance and I) a glass of wine. The gentleman told us to relax and after we parked the car he would open a bottle of chianti to help us kick off our stay in Florence. We thought this was wonderful and very kind, although I made clear that we would prefer to go to a local bar to experience the neighborhood. The gentleman told us it was his pleasure and the he would be delighted to serve us and seemed to make it perfectly clear that these were complimentary glasses of wine. Now, I don't expect 'something for nothing' as they say, however, at no time was there any talk of how much these 2 seemingly complimentary glasses of wine actually cost and the implication was that this was the normal check in procedure at the hotel. I wouldn't have been too upset to find out that the wine wasn't free but it was the way the very shady and kind of creepy manager the next day sprung the news to us that the wine wasn't free. When he told us we had a room charge (prepaid room) other than the parking--continued--

Nice hotel, 10 minute walk from train stationPosted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Great location, clean room, good size bathroom, comfortable bed and helpful staff.
Cons: Breakfast was mediocre but good enough to get you going for the day. We stayed in three different locatins and found this to be the same with all.
Location: Very central location; can walk to most everything. Definitely get into Tuscany area and Cinque Terre if you can; both amazing and beautifu!
Hotel was easy to find; 10 minute walk on Nazionale Street, directly across from the train station (go to the Tourist Information building first to get a map and directions); it's to the right of the train station near the church when you exit. Good central location for walking to most everything else. Florence was fun and lots of great places to see (don't be afraid to get out and walk and explore). Piazza Michaelangelo, across the Arno River has fabulous views if you don't mind the climb. You get a fabulous view of the Ponte Vechio Bridge (much cooler when you are a bit away from it). WalkAbout Tours offers two great locations; Cinque Terre (don't miss it but wear good walking shoes) and Best of Tuscany (vineyard tour and lunch in Chianti was fabulous). We're outdoors people so museums and churces weren't for us but we did pop into a few here and there and spent a good amount of time in the Uffizzi (pretty amazing stuff) and so many great piazzas to sit, eat and people watch. Hit the indoor market (right near the big outdoor one); so many cool venfors and places to eat.

The Wow factorPosted Oct 4, 2013
The Rappallo Hotel, Florence is a hidden gem. It's in a great location and the staff are wonderful. The Breakfast is fantastic with a large range of all types of food on offer. The best treat of all is the complimentary Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate along with beautiful biscuits and lots of little nibbles to keep you going till dinner. Highly recommend it to everyone.

Excellent Hotel short walk from the City CentrePosted Sep 19, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness; friendly, personal service from the staff, nothing too much trouble; excellent continental breakfast spread
Cons: Beds hard as always on the continent, breakfast room crowded at certain times.
Location: 900m from train station, 500m from city centre. All main attractions of Florence within easy walking distance. Laundrette and mini supermarket close
We arrived to a friendly welcome from Lorenzo with his excellent English. Our room was spotless and air conditioned. The room had a fridge with free bottled water, tea/coffe-making facilities and a safe. There were 3 of us in one room (3 separate beds provided as requested) but there was enough room for the 3rd bed without being too cramped. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the coffee freshly ground for each individual cup. The highlight was the 2 hour walking tour provided for a fairly nominal sum (compared to the prices in the glossy brochures) by Lorenzo whose knowledge was extraordinary. We will definitely use this hotel when we return to Florence.
