“New, Modern Hotel on Piazza Santa Maria Novella”

Only being in Florence one night we wanted a Hotel close to the train station but not noisy or crowded. Although the Rosso is on the Piazza Santa maria Novella, the most noise we heard was the church bells ringing! There is a restaurant next door with a nice eat outside area and when we opened the window of our room and looked out and saw the dome of the Duomo we were estatic! Clean, efficient staff, excellent breakfast nook downstairs, your traditional but still nice to have and our room was very quiet. Would stay again. The distance to the sights was extremely close and lots of great restaurants around. Be sure to visit the church and the Pharmacy of the church down the street.

“Lovely hotel, great location”

Loved the Hotel Rosso 23. Very modern, excellent location right on the Santa Maria Novella square. Our party had several rooms and we noticed quite a difference in room size. Some, having asked for a quiet room, had a very small room indeed. Literally a foot or so around each side of the bed. Our room was a good size, kept meticulously clean and very nice.

The hotel is situated within walking distance from the S.Maria Novella rail station. Also located in a quiet Piazza near most tourist areas. Newly renovated rooms and comfortable beds. Larger rooms. Would return.

“Clean and Quiet”

New and modern atmosphere. Great location, right on Piazaa Santa Maria Novella and near train station, but little noise. Walking distance to everything. Nice breakfast. (Only downside was that some deorderizer was sprayed in the room that caused my allergies to flare up.)

“Trendy and clean!”

This hotel was extremely convenient being so close to the train station - we walked maybe 3 or 4 minutes. It looks new, staff was friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom were a little small but we didn't need much space. Everything was very trendy and chic and the free breakfast in the morning was very good! I would definitely go back!

“Great Value”

We had such a great experience here. The hotel staff was super friendly and helped out with maps, restaurant recommendations and even offered to book train tickets for us. The hotel is in a prime location beside the train station which we used a lot. The hotel is hard to spot (there is only a small standing sign with the name by the door), so if you do stay here the hotel is in the plaza of the Santa Maria Novella church, if you face the church it will be on your right hand side. As for the hotel itself, our room was big (for European standards), modern and clean. Breakfast was great every morning and cut cost for us (it kept us full until around 2pm). Overall the experience was a good one, I would definitely recommend the hotel to my friends.

“Fantastic location”

The hotel location, cleanliness and decor of the rooms is fantastic. However, the experience can vary hugely depending on which room you get. We were given a room that was so small that there was not even enough floor space to open a suitcase! I am not exaggerating!! I was very upset as we had a lot of luggage (we were getting married in Florence though moving to a luxurious, spacious hotel for the actual wedding day) and asked to be moved to something bigger. The staff on reception were very unhelpful and said that this was the size of their standard doubles. This was a lie as many of our wedding guests were staying in the hotel and their rooms were bigger. There are also no ironing facilities in the hotel (though there is a pricey laundry and pressing service) and were were told that it is illegal to have irons in the rooms in Florence by reception. Again, a lie and not helpful when the majority of our wedding guests had clothes they needed to press. I would still recommend this hotel as the building is beautiful, quiet and a fantastic location. It is the reception staff that let it doen completely. After our wedding we did return to the hotel for one night and the room we had was fantastic - spacious and with an unobstructed view of the Duomo. It depends completely on which room you are allocated!

“Not impressed”

Great location. Basic rooms BUT the room stank of cigarettes, the pillows ,the bed & the towels. I rang to confirm that we had a non smoking room & was told the hotel was non smoking . It was horrible & they need to sort this out. Hotel receptionist dismissive about the whole issue. Ruined our first night in Florence. Good breakfast

“Not Impressed”

The hotel itself was in a great area and was clean and modern. The problem was my phone and the TV in my room did not work and when asked for a wake up call, I didn't get it. This could have been horrible had I had a plane or train to catch that day. The food for breakfast was just ok.
