Great Hotel in a perfect spot of old Florence

Posted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: Loved the location and the charming terrace overlooking Florence's rooftops and Cathedrals. Very friendly and helpful management.
Location: In the heart of all the designers shopping, attractions and 100 meters from the best piazza in Florence, Piazza dela Signoria.
Had an amazing week in one of the best cities of Europe, Florence. The old city offers amazing attractions, great shopping and wonderfully hospitable people. Plenty of medieval cities to visit, only an hour away and easily accessible by organized tours and public transportation. Florence is definitely a place to revisit.

Great hotel for family, great location and fabulous terrace. Especially appreciated that when we arrived (late morning) that they had a welcome room with coffee, juice and pastries that we could enjoy while they brought our bags to the room.

Pros: charming bar and attractive roof terrace
Cons: Softer pillows, or at least a choice. Maintenance: e.g. a light bulb that they said they would change wasn't 5 days later.
Location: Perfect location by a beautiful piazza, central but quiet.
We (two female friends) had a great 5 days here in April while visiting galleries and churches in Florence. This is a good hotel, with beautiful decor and friendly staff. It could be better if they improved the sound proofing (we were underneath the breakfast room which was very noisy in the mornings), and had softer mattresses and feather pillows. The mattresses did feel new though, so no sagging or lumps and the bedlinen was immaculate. Breakfast was reasonable and the bar and roof terrace lovely for a pre-dinner drink after a hard day's fresco-ing. This has the feel of a family-run, civilised hotel, with friendly, but not super-efficient staff (our room was left without towels one day and a blown light bulb was never fixed despite assurances on day 1) - this is definitely a solid 4 star rather than a modern international 5 star, but also charming and pretty and in a fantastic location. Breakfast was fine for our needs - a good selection of fruit, yoghurt, cake and pastries and coffee on tap, but you had to order (and pay extra) if you wanted eggs or anything hot, or speciality coffees. The decor was beautiful though and felt genuinely Florentine, and the roof terrace and bar felt elegant and genteel in a timeless way. Bellinis were mixed well and the Martini also proved satisfactory. Bar snacks came too. The location was perfect.

Pros: The staff, the location, the hotel itself...
Cons: Actually, nothing. We loved this hotel.
Location: Plenty of things to do around. The hotel staff will point you to all the places. A must do: Make sure you get a reservation for Restaurant Napoleon.
Nice hotel with walking distance to most turistic locations. The bulding is beutiful. You feel as if you are staying in a museum.

Good location in a well appointed area.

Pros: We loved the journey to our room. Down straight hallways, up stairs, down stairs, another hallway, around corners passed sitting rooms, a small bar.
Cons: Not a thing. We loved the Italian atmosphere, the art and statuary. It was like living in a private residence.
Location: The location is across from high end stores such as Armani and Prada. It is within walking distance of Ponte Vecchio and many historical Piazza.
We toured Sta Maria Novella Basilica before we even checked in since it is very near to hotel. It is very near Ponte Vecchio, Sta Maria del Fiore Duomo, Gate of Paradise and many historical sites. The staff is welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast was included and set out in a large hall. It included sliced meats/eggs/fruit/breads/capuccino or Americano. Lovely and satisfying the decor is typical Italian of reds, baroque furniture and warm gathering places.
