It was a simple hotel, but nice! Very close to the train station St. Ma Novella. The breakfast was nice and the room was clean. The Wifi however was very bad, I had to go out to work on my computer in the hallway and it was still not good. The staff at the front desk were very nice.

Feel like you're in Florence, really feel itPosted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, the feeling of old times when life moved more slowly.
Cons: Hallways are narrow, but there is no changing that.
Location: Ten minutes from the Duomo and just a few minutes more from the Palazzo Vecchio and the Pontesieve Vecchio.
Ten minutes from the Duomo on a narrow street that bends ever so slightly and reveals new surprises every few feet, the Hotel Vasari is the perfect spot from which to explore Florence. The building dates from the late 1500s and in the late nineteenth century served as the French Embassy. The public rooms on the street level still reflect the ambiance of that golden era as does a large sitting room on the first floor. The old tile for in the breakfast room is very nearly a work of art in itself. Guess rooms, a bit small as is always the case in older European hotels, are a bit small, but are tastefully done. Doors to the guest rooms are decorated with figures from classic paintings--a nice touch. While you're in the neighborhood, don't miss the chance fir a meal at the Trattoria Nerone on the street that connects the Hotel Vasari with the duomo (on your right as you walk toward the cathedral).

Good value, location and breakfast-poor a.c.Posted Jun 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
For a short, budget driven stay, that is close to the main Train station the Vasari Palace is not a bad choice. An old monastery that still retains some architectural charm visible in the dining area and lounge the Vasari is a good value for the budget traveler. Its proximity to the station is also ideal for those of us schlepping luggage from place to place. About a 5 minute or less walk from the side entrance of the station. Breakfast is really quite complete and served in a room with vaulted ceilings and cheerfully decorated. Rooms are adequate with functioning bathrooms and everything kept very clean. Like many places in Italy however, the quality of the air conditioners is variable and you may have a room that is properly chilled or one that is just this side of a sauna. It only matters of course if you are traveling during the heat of the summer. Staff is very helpful and all speak several languages.

Stay here only if you have no other choosePosted Jun 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
Very low end hotel, condition of room very poor. I had to ask for the remote to turn air on. I could not get the internet to work at all, had to use my provider.

Great location close to train station.Posted Jun 11, 2014
So far, in regards to our experience in Italy, this hotel was by far the best one we have stayed. Great staff, great room, great city.

Perfect location, great staff.Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: Great breakfasts, polite staff, good central location.
Location: The San Lorenzo markets, famous for their leather goods and there is a brilliant foodhall with Italian produce and places to eat. The Duomo is close.
This hotel is just off via Faenza with its restaurants and cafes and just minutes from the San Lorenzo markets, yet quiet and cool. The Duomo is 5 minutes and most things to see in Florence are a short walk away. The staff are uniformly helpful and polite. Breakfast is superb. I thought that this is excellent value and would stay here again.

Well placed hotelPosted May 28, 2014
Pros: Location. Good for arrivals and departures. Good for the sites. Had an elevator so good for heavy bags.
Location: All Florence on your doorstep but set back from the crowds.
Excellent location near the station and tourist sites. Less than 10 minutes walk from the Academia and five from the station. Good breakfasts. Friendly helpful staff. Well rated trattoria across the road for supper if too tired to walk far at the end of the day. Only draw back was the front rooms face on to a single track road that a lot of motor bikes and cars use on a Friday night as a rat run. Peaceful the rest of the time. Reasonable sized rooms. Lots of hot water.
