Paradise Found

Posted May 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
If Firenze is a cultural wonderland, then Hotel Bonelli, which is located a short 20 minute bus ride, is a hotel located in Paradise !!! It is in a small town called Fiesole, and should be a town to visit while you are there in Tuscany. Once you arrive at the train station, buy a bus ticket, then board bus number 6, which will take you to Piazza San Angelo, where you transfer to bus number 7. Sit on the right side of the bus, and once the bus leaves Firenze proper, it is an uphill ride to Fiesole, and the scenery is breathtaking to say the least. The bus stops at the center of the town's piazza. Hotel Bonelli is a walk uphill, and off on a side street. Ask a local to point you in the right direction, as the piazza is at the intersection of several streets. The hotel is quiet, clean and very charming...you won't be disappointed.

Lovely view for a night

This hotel was a walk uphill out of town, a little difficult to find/get to with luggage unless you take a taxi. The hotel has a nice decor and charm but I thought our room smelled a little off- like a cat had urinated on the curtains. The rest of the room was nice and the wifi is a plus. Desk staff was friendly but it got very noisy at night as I think the overnight desk staff was watching tv down the hall - tile hallways echo and get loud. Overall ok, safe, clean place to stay.

Excellent accomodation for Fiesole, Florenece and

Pros: Quiet, very helpful staff
Cons: Would be car parking - but I did not take my car
Location: Maybe a little steep for some people
A hotel providing very good bed and breakfast facilities. Hotel is situated 5 minutess walk from main square in Fiesole. Hotel car parking limited to 3 cars. Comprehensive free continental style breakfast. Receptionist staff very helpful. Fiesole is an excellent choice for accommodation and transport to Florence. Also provides fantastic free live music in main square every night July and August.

OK but not wonderful

On arrival, the hardest thing was finding somewhere to park. Eventually, the place we found involved us having to climb steep hills and a long flight of steps to the hotel - no joke with luggage in 30 degrees! We asked at reception if there was anywhere else to park, and were just given a shrug of the shoulders. Bear in mind we are not young - my husband is 64 and I'm nearly 60, and I felt that response was a little discourteous. However, then we were shown to room 23, which had the most amazing views. This almost made up for the steps! Our last night, we had to move rooms, and the one we had was small and dark, and the air conditioning was poor. The breakfast was very disappointing. Cold meats, cheese and yoghourts were laid out - uncovered and unrefrigerated, which put me off. The croissants seemed leathery to me, so I went for toast after that. Apart from the initial shrug over the parking, the staff were reasonably friendly, and the rooms were kept very clean. The towels were spotless.

Ideal for watching the sunset over Florence

Excellent value for money, easy access to Florence via regular bus service (9.80 Euro for 4 return). Perfect cafe and restaurant to watch the sun go down over the city.

A pleasant week in Fiesole

Posted Jun 24, 2012
Pros: Cleanliness. Lying in bed listening to Swifts. Being able to walk into the countryside within 10 mins and yet being able to catch the bus to Florence.
Cons: The bed was a little too soft, and although hotel not close to the road, the traffic rather noisy
Location: Fiesole is hilly but full of character and history.
The room was spotless, the shower was one of the best and the soap and shampoo had not been tested on animals (important) Useful little fridge in bedroom. Nice cool breakfast room with option to eat outside. Breakfast was a little unimaginative but the staff were friendly and helpful.

Disappointed in Houston, TX

Although staff were kind and helpful, there was not enough staff to clear the tables and serve breakfast. Each morning, the tables were full of dirty dishes and not ready. The person at the front desk was nice but had too many jobs to do and was the same person fixing coffee and clearing the tables at breakfast.

Location: it is in an excellent location, near the center of town. From parts of the town, you can look down and see all of Florence!! Driving here is tricky!
The hotel is clean an well kept. The Staff was good, though we only encountered 1 person.

Great Service!

We stayed two nights at this hotel for our family trip to Florence. The hotel staff was both friendly and helpful, but Rachel from the front desk went well beyond expectations. She gave us recommendations for restaurants, directions, and even offered to watch our dog while we went out. While this hotel is in a beautiful village just outside of Florence, the only drawback is the travel time. However, it was well worth the extra time and effort for us.
