Hotel from HellPosted Oct 2, 2013
Cons: Don't rent rooms out until they are updated, repaired and cleaned; including the outside area.
Location: The location was OK and Cracker Barrel was the best to go have a nice meal.
The room had holes in the wall, carpet looked trashy. Bathroom and tub was not kept up and the tilted was dirty and needed repaired. Curtains did not close competently and any one could see in. The area outside the room was dirty and stuff on the ground, old furniture and a ice maker that was broken. This room and around the room area outside was very unkempt.

Not the Room we ExpectedPosted Sep 26, 2013
Pros: The young woman who served as waitress for the included morning breakfast was very professional and courteous.
Cons: There is too much wrong to easily be made right about this motel, in my opinion.
Location: We were en route to Williamsburg, VA from Florida and did not travel to Florence, South Carolina for the purpose of being a tourist there.
Expedia had confirmed a handicapped accessible room at The Howard Johnson Motel in Florence, South Carolina after speaking with a front desk person at The Howard Johnson Motel in Florence, South Carolina. Upon our arrived, the front desk person on duty indicated that Expedia had not spoken with any one at The Howard Johnson Motel in Florence, South Carolina and that no handicapped accessible room was reserved or available and that we had been assigned a second floor room in a motel without an elevator. My husband uses a Hoveround Motorized Wheelchair for mobility. When I objected to this room assignment and showed the front desk person Expedia's e-mail confirmation, I was told that a first floor room was available after all, but it was not equipped with a roll in shower. When we went to that room, we found it had not been cleaned, there was no bedspread, there was a blue mess of some sort in the bathtub, and this room designated as "non-smoking" reeked of cigarette smoke. While the step up into the room prevented my husband using his motorized wheelchair, being able to park our van directly in front of the room door gave him only a few painful steps to take. When I went back to the front desk to complain about the condition of Room 135, we were reassigned to Room 169. This room designated as non-smoking included an ashtray and various cigarette burns. We did not get the room we expected.

Dirty, dated & disgusting!Posted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: Close to I-95 and inexpensive
Cons: The hotel was just very dated and run down and poorly kept. Even the baseboards in the bathroom had been chewed apart by some dog. Carpet was stained.
Location: Close to interstate 95.
The only good thing if it's convenient I 95 & cheap. Other than that, it was filthy, smelly and run down. There many other hotels in the same vicinity that would probably be nicer for the same price. Thank God I only had to stay one night. Even the restaurant was under renovation and they put people on folding tables and chairs for some poor breakfast. Do not stay here!

Our room was very dirty. It needed a good cleaning and general maintenance . The phone didn't work, the hook on the bathroom door was ripped off, and the curtains wouldn't close.

Hotel Desk RepsPosted Aug 25, 2013
Very unfriendly. Not familiar with their own policy on age restrictions. Paid in full, wanted to deny room because they thought room age was 25. Read your policy!

Nice hotelPosted Aug 23, 2013
Bed was excellent. We stayed at 4 hotels on our trip and this hotel was best. Good full service breakfast included. Very reasonable

Better than I expected.Posted Aug 21, 2013
The room was very nice and comfortable. Flat screen TV, nice toiletries, very pleasant housekeeping staff, front desk, OK. Much more than I expected from a Howard Johnson motel. Will definitely stay again! The only downside was the complimentary breakfast-pretty much non existent, unless you consider coffee a continental breakfast.

The worstPosted Aug 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
The worst ! Rooms smelled like mold I was moved twice because room was dirty water in tub no clean towels. The ac leaked water in the room. Bed was so bad that I could not sleep I got up at 1:00 am and got back on the. The only good thing was the water in the shower was hot and had good pressure. I have stayed in a lot of places I my life but I can say with out question that was the worst motel stay of my life. I would rather sleep under my truck in a thunder storm than to stay there.
