“Review of Hotel Seect”

It was a terrific hotel. The people behind the counter were super friendly and helpful. I loved the hotel room. It was a terrific price too.

“Good hotel...a couple of things to consider though!”

We booked the Select as it looked great in the photographs online and had reasonably good reviews. It looked like apartments from the photos and that's just what it was. Quality of fittings was good and the maid service and overall cleanliness was excellent. When we visited check in was actually at the Best Western Select which is just across the road, it doesn't state this when booking but don't be put off as the service from the front desk at the Best Western was excellent as well. You can also go there for breakfast at 6 Euro per person. For those who are uncomfortable with long walks, be warned, this hotel is a good 25 minute walk from the central attractions and at least 15 minutes from the main stations, Taxis are quite expensive in Florence and over a 3 day trip we spent a fair bit coming to and from, and in August heat you aren't always going to want to walk! There is also very little in the local area, no supermarkets within easy walking, although there are a couple of small bars and Tabachi which you can get water and snacks from if needed, other than that this really is a residential area and is on the whole very quiet indeed. Overall the hotel was of good quality, very quiet and easy to get to, although it may be too far out for some which, after Taxis, will definitely offset the initial cheapness of the room.

“Comfortable, little out of the way”

Hotel was a little out of the way from old town Florence. There was a bus about 5 min walk away came every ten minutes and dropped you off right in front of the Duomo, so it wasnt that bad. Taxi ride was 10 euro back at night. The room we received was lovely and had a large amount of space. Bathroom was very nice and clean, no tub though :(. The front desk is across the street from the rooms, but i kinda liked that as your were kinda secluded from all the traffic. The front desk did recommend a wonderful restaurant about 10 min walk from the hotel. We were so exhausted and didn't know what to really order the waiter just brought us house specials and it was all exceptional.

“Firenze”

The Select Executive had a nice room for a nice price. The hotel was about a 15 minute walk from SMN train station and piazza. We had a great restaurant recommendation from the hotel and overall had a good stay.

“Worse than it looks like”

I decided staying at the Select Executive based on the web site and pictures. It looked like a very nice hotel. Localization is good, but the hotel is very simple, ok and does not have good bathrooms.

“The Worst”

There's no check in at this hotel, you have to go to the Best Western across the street whenever you need anything. When arriving in the room the towels and soap were already used so they moved our room. After moving to a second room, the shower was broken so they moved us to a third room. While sleeping you will get mysterious bug bites. We told them that they needed to wash the sheets better and they tried to charge us an extra 50 euros for doing so!
