Tourist House DuomoPosted Jul 11, 2014
Cons: Availability of staff
It was an okay experience and average place to stay for $80 USD a night. I would recommend it as a budget place to stay. It has a good location near the Duomo and is easy to find from the railway station. The check-in time is inconvenient. Nobody is there until 2 pm, so if you arrive early, you have no place to stow your bags. Rooms are clean, but would probably recommend spending a bit more to have a place with a breakfast.

Clean & Can't Beat the Location!Posted Jun 10, 2014 on Hotels.com
My family of five went to visit relatives in southern Italy and wanted to include a budget-friendly getaway to Florence for a couple of days as part of our trip. We were looking for a hotel for the night that was clean and close to the sights and you couldn't beat this hotel for the price! It was located within walking distance between the train station and the Duomo and was perfect for our family for the night. This was our fourth trip to Florence in the last 10 years and my only regret is that we didn't find out about this hotel sooner! We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!

We were in this hotel for one week, close to everything. I complained to Clara that my bed was hard & she was very accommodating by giving me a topping for my mattress. No wifi in the room,The wifi was only good at neat the desk. Clara & Neri were very nice, I would stay there again.

Convenient Location in FlorencePosted Oct 27, 2010
This hotel is a 5-7 minute walk (even when dragging luggage) from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. It was not a difficult walk even for mature travelers, like ourselves. It is in a nice old neighborhood of hotels, shops and diverse restaurants. The surrounding neighborhood seems very safe, except for the ubiquitous seedy characters that you always encounter within a block of a major city train station. It is difficult to find the small sign for Tourist House Duomo on Via Cerretani until you realize that THD is actually inside Hotel Perseo. There is a convenient elevator and the manager, Michele, is pleasant enough and helpful. He is often absent, however, and several times I had to admit arriving guests at odd hours who were knocking on the door and then explain to them how to reach Michele by phone in order to check in. I assume that these guests may not have been specific enough with Michele about their arrival time. The WiFi did not work in my room. I had to use the hotel's front desk computer at times, which they do make available to guests, but this was not always convenient. The hotel appears to be an older Palazzo, and not modern in appearance or personal conveniences. The rooms are large but dingy and poorly lit. The furniture is older and not the most comfortable. My mattress was a bit lumpy but adequate if you get tired enough. Breakfast was not served in the hotel, but rather you are given a voucher which you must take (Continued in the next text box)
