Florence 2014Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: Villa La Rondini is a classic quality one-off European hotel. It does not have all the "flash" of a US hotel chain, but has everything you need.
Location: The hotel offers amazing views of Florence, and it is fantastic to be able to beat the summer heat by getting out of the City proper.
We have been coming to this hotel for over 20 years, and in all that time it has been consistently excellent. The views over Florence would sell the experience on its own. We very much enjoy immersing ourselves in all that is Florence and then retreating up the hill to recover from that richness, both at the pool and in the simple but excellent quality restaurant.

Pros: see above
Cons: Waterpressure in shower, extra bed =sofa,
Location: Fiesole is nice village, city center, cities Lucca, Pisa
We stayed 5 days in this historic, peaceful and nice hotel in September 2013. The location of this hotel is wonderful, up on the hillside middle of big park and it has friendly and staff. They have free carparking and Wi-fi and customer service was helpful, and good for us, in English!

So much potentialPosted Sep 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
For the price I'll admit I was expecting a little more. This place could use a serious overhaul, both a clean up and for the overall decor. There were dust bunnies running across the walls in my room, and the furniture was dingy and old. Circa 1920 I'm sure it would have been quite classy, but now just seems run down and dare I say a bit tacky. Heavy drapes, peeling paint, a saving grace is the view if Florence, and breakfast. Though the wait staff at the restaurant were quite rude. The location is great, it's super easy to get to the heart of town by bus, and the surrounding country side was beautiful. They also left my passport out in the open during my stay which was seriously unimpressive! A little renovation and some care cleaning up would go a long way.

Villa Le Rondini Hotel RistorantePosted Jul 5, 2010 on Hotels.com
The best part of the hotel is the lovely young woman who worked the desk. She was sweet, friendly and extremely helpful. The biggest drawback is the hotel is extremely far from the center of town although easily accessed by a bus that stops outside of the hotel. The restaurant is so-so and the bar nothing to speak of. The room was small but the bathroom ok. Lots of bugs inside and out but it is in a rural area. The pool was decent but could have used a cleaning.

Not truly 4 starPosted Jun 6, 2010
We were very excited to arrive in Italy, driving is not bad on the autostrada however, be very careful when you arrive in Florence! It makes the Grand Prix look like a Disney ride. Italians are overall very nice and all willing to help, quite refreshing. Our hotel was difficult to find on our own, if you took a taxi they know where it is at. The hotel might look better in full blown summer when you are not looking at the gaping empty pool. The staff was very nice and accomodating however, there is absolutely nothing to do there except sleep (not very comfortably). It did force my husband and I to get up early and get out to do stuff. We drove our rental car to Venice, Pisa and all over and around Florence. Word to the wise, take the Autostrada when possible, trying to take a scenic route via Bologna added an hour and a half to Venice

nice view of the cityPosted Apr 14, 2010
This hotel has a very nice view of the city. It is off the beaten path. It's a short bus ride to the city(15 min) but you have to walk up / down a long driveway to get to the bus stop. bus #25. Use a taxi to get to the hotel if you have lots of luggage . Breakfast was good, typical breads, ceareals, fruit, juices etc. Dinner was nice at the hotel- very limited menu. Beds were quite firm. Room was clean.

Expensive, Run Down and DisappointingPosted Jun 5, 2009
A very disappointing Hotel, photos misleading. Condition and maintenance was very poor in all areas; pool, dining, lounge, rooms, grounds. Not 4*, maybe 2*. Didn't get triple room, or views, we'd booked. Bathroom was very tired, no proper shower and only half-bath. Rooms were in villa a long walk from pool and hotel. Food was terrible and overpriced, we tried both dinner and breakfast. Service in restaurant and bar was rude and unhelpful. Food and drinks were overpriced. Would not stay here again.
