Great Hotel in Florence

Posted Nov 27, 2014
Pros: The grounds, the room and the whole Tuscan feel of the hotel.
Cons: If the shuttle ran a little later it would help out.
Location: 10-15 minutes from everything but out far enough to be out of the city.
This is a beautiful hotel just outside Florence. It is about 15-20 minutes from the main city of Florence but it is worth the drive if you looking for a peaceful relaxing quiet hotel. The grounds are fabulous and the restaurant on site is superb. The hotel is decorated in rich colors and beautiful furniture and has great historical items. The entry is what you would expect from a grand hotel yet very local. Check in was a breeze and they did a great job. We arrived late on a Friday evening after traveling all day from the states and we were tired but hungry. The restaurant is small but inviting so we looked at the menu and decided to eat there. I would rank it right there with some of the finest food we had in all of Italy during our trip. The service and the staff were impeccable and we could not have had a better experience. I am a 5 star type of person when traveling personally and this hotel surpassed my recommendations. They have a shuttle to town so no need for a car and if you miss the last shuttle back, a taxi will work nicely. We had a car and left it parked for three days while we were there. make sure and work with the front desk for shuttle tickets so you are counted and not forgotten. Our room was splendid and quite large and done in true Tuscan fashion. in the morning it was open the windows and listen to the wind in the trees. We will be going back.

Superb location away from the crowds

Pros: Location. Easy reach of the autostrada for touring, superb grounds
Cons: our annex had a road with early morning traffic past the bedroom window which disturbed the nights peace
Superb location away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Free transport available to take you into the city. Relaxing atmosphere

Très bel hôtel excentré avec du caractère

Posted Nov 1, 2014

Blown Away

Posted Oct 19, 2014
Pros: The staff!
Cons: shuttle times into city center.
Location: Hotel is outside city center so quite and relaxing! great after being in town all day. Close walk to public transportation.
We arrived before check-in time. The front desk person, Veronika, was fantastic. Our room was not ready but she offered to have our luggage stored and delivered to our room so we could get out and start our vacation. She took the time to explain the map of Florence as well as public transportation since the hotel shuttle only ran at certain times and you had to have a reservation. ( That would be one thing I would change) We were greeted EVERY time we entered or left the hotel with absolute friendliness making us feel most welcome. Everyone from the front desk to the bar and dining room was amazing. Definitely don't see that kind of service in the US hotels. Our room was on the first floor and spacious. More than we expected. Robes and slippers for use. Room was made up daily and i think in the evening someone straightened the room again while we were out. There was a safe in the room as well as a small fridge and coffee pot. I can't see enough great things about our week stay except that I would recommend the Villa Olmi to anyone and would stay again when I get to return to Florence! Thanks again for a wonderful experience and our best to the staff for such great service!!!

Absolutely super!

Posted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, atmosphere, pool, restaurant, bar, everything!!
Location: The hotel is located a little outside the centre of Florence, but with a free shuttle bus to the centre numerous times a day, it is perfect.
We had a fantastic time at the Villa Olmi. It is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Our room was gorgeous and the views and grounds spectacular. Such a relaxing break. The hotel is a little out of the centre of Florence but the hotel provides a free shuttle right in to the centre, so this is not an issue. In fact, with the lovely pool area, it was great to get out of the hussle and bussle of the centre for a day and chill out by the pool. A taxi back to the hotel in the evening if you didn't catch the shuttle was not too expensive anyway and there are plenty of them about. We went for my partner's birthday, and in passing had mentioned it to reception. On the day of his birthday when we ordered breakfast to our room, they brought a gorgeous little cake! What a treat for him and such a kind gesture. The staff are absolutely fantastic and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be back!

Very nice hotel outside of central Florence

Posted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: Decor, staff, grounds
Cons: More frequent shuttle bus service to central Florence
Location: A nice family run restaurant called Osteria Bruccia Tegami very close to the hotel. You can go there if you don't fancy going back to central Florence
We stayed here as a couple in September 2014. It's a short taxi/bus ride away from central Florence but that means it is very quiet, has huge grounds, a swimming pool and is also very quiet. The hotel runs a daily shuttle bus (9am, 10am and 11am, and then 5pm, 6pm and 7pm) to Florence and around those same times back as well, otherwise you will need to take a taxi or a bus which goes to the main road not to far away. The hotel itself is beautiful and decorates in traditional Italian style. The staff are very polite and helpful. The restaurants is nice but expensive (our breakfast was not included as we decided to eat in Florence instead as it was 16 EUR each otherwise). The grounds around the hotel are beautiful, you could spend an hour just talking around or sitting on th benches reading, it is very quiet. My room has all of the amenities, and was cosy. However I wasn't fond of the wooden floors or wooden beams on the ceiling either, but that is personal preference - if you don't like that either I'd suggest asking for a different room in advance.
