Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundingsPosted Aug 24, 2014
We had a great week. The hotel is located 10 minutes by car from Florence. It provides excellent accommodation with beautiful gardens. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The pool is a welcome relaxation after a days sight seeing. The restaurant provides a high class cuisine and the breakfasts are super. We will go back again.

Fantastic Hotel, Great LocationPosted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: Beautiful location. Great staff. Very clean. Excellent breakfast. Coffee was superb. My girlfriend is allergic to egg and there was plenty of choice!
Cons: An earlier return bus from the City would be useful. 5.30pm was the first one we were aware of, 4.30 would be good!
Location: There is very little near by in the way of shops and restaurants - if there are it would be good if the hotel could provide this information.
My girlfriend and I stayed from August 1st to 8th, 2014. It was a really fantastic stay. The hotel was so well priced, with excellent facilities, helpful and friendly staff. It is well located and easy to get to by public bus - the hotel also runs its own bus which was very convenient for us, as we like to go into Florence for dinner and to head in mid morning around 10am. Getting back was a little harder, if you missed the last public bus in the evening, it was around 20Euros by taxi. Breakfast was excellent - we didn't use the bar or the hotel restaurant as we preferred to eat lunch and dinner in Florence. The pool was ideal - simple and not huge or fancy but ideal for cooling off after a long day in the city and situated amongst Apple and Pear trees which made it really relaxing for lounging around all day as we chose to do one day. The location outside the city was ideal for our needs, it was good to get out of the city which was really hot and crowded! The staff very kindly arranged our trip the L'Accademia which helped - definitely book this and the Uffizi in advance. Average queues are 2 hours even at 9am - thankfully we avoided this!

Tranquil and SublimePosted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: Villa Olmi is all about class, relaxation and peace. There were no children noticeable during my stay.
Set in absolutely beautiful tranquil surroundings in the suburbs on Florence, Villa Olmi was a delightful place to spend our stay and I would highly recommend. The room was elegant, well furnished, quiet and relaxing. Tripping into the central city on the courtesy bus was a breeze and if you miss the last scheduled trip back a taxi trip back will not break the bank. The buffet breakfast is outstanding and all the hotel staff were extremely professional, helpful and diligent.

Good choice for a city break.Posted Aug 5, 2014
Lovely gardens and pool, good choice for city break when hot, also courtesy bus in to town throughout the day. The food: dinner very good, coffees tepid unless you ask for hot, lunch not worth the expensive (€16 for a handful of salad drenched in vinegar), never tried the breakfast. Superb, friendly staff. Room would have rated higher as bed good and fridge very useful, but the aircon was unbelievably noisy, like a generator, to be fair we didn't complain until the last day and probably should have. Would definitely go back due to its location. Lots of loved up couples of all ages, shapes and sizes.

The school art trip I missed out on, 30 years latePosted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: We had a junior garden suite which meant we had private outdoor space and a fridge - perfect for snacks and picnics. Breakfast in the garden was fab.
Cons: The toilet was slightly wiffy...and dinner out of our price range. There was a two ring hob but no pans in our room
Location: Florence is heavenly, with some lovely green spaces when you need a break from culture and the Boboli Gardens (and costume museum) were a treat.
We travelled as a couple with my eight year old daughter and stayed four days at Villa Olmi, getting the complimentary hotel bus into Florence each day. The beautiful gardens and pool made it a peaceful retreat from the city's cultural delights and it felt like we were in the country rather than on the edge of town. Breakfast buffet was amazing, and had plenty of choice for everyone. We couldn't run to dinner for three in the restaurant but found a great pizzeria just into Bagno e Ripoli on the high street which we'd heartily recommend.

Villa OlmiPosted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: The rooms, location and staff are great, a real pleasure
Its a really nice hotel, the only criticism and it is an important one is that the hotel is 3-4 miles from the main squares, which doesn't seem like much but the local taxis are a disaster, I thought Florence was lovely but the taxis left a sour taste, the most we were charged for 4 miles was over 30 euros, they all charge this much on a meter so largely there was nothing you could do. The final insult was a 63 euro taxi ride from the hotel to the airport (37 on the way out) The hotel booked the taxi to the airport and I think they should take care to book a taxi that was not going to rip us off so much. Also watch the room bill, we had one thing at least added to it that we didnt have, when questioning it the language barrier popped up, I gave in and paid

Relaxing, quiet Tuscan resortPosted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: Excellent pool, huge gardens, jacuzzi in every room, and they make you feel like a king.
Cons: I should have stayed much longer.
Location: Florence, or Firenze, is packed with activities and museums. The Italian Riveria and the Tuscany regions are nearby to explore
This resort has the most attentive service, high quality rooms, and some of the best food I have tasted. While only a short 15 min. shuttle ride to Florence, it feels a world apart from all the tourist crowds. This place made our honeymoon!

Fantastic FlorencePosted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: The decor, attentive staff and location.
Cons: Possibly a later shuttle bus in the evening - maybe 10pm.
Location: Great location for exploring Florence (using the shuttle bus/taxi and traffic is not permitted into the centre anyway) and the surrounding region.
We loved our stay at the Villa Olmi. We deliberately chose the hotel for its location on the outskirts of Florence to use as a base for exploring the city as well as giving us easy access the rest of the Tuscan region. The staff are very welcoming and attentive and the hotel is well maintained. The swimming pool is lovely and clean. There's ample parking and a free shuttle bus into Florence in the mornings and evenings although you do need to book your place the day before and the last bus back is at 7.30pm. Taxis cost around 16 euros. The hotel restaurant and food were nice. Highly recommended. It was lovely to leave the hot and sticky city of Florence behind and spend a relaxing afternoon by the pool looking up at the Tuscan hills - yet you're not that far from the city and can even see the Duomo from the hotel!
