Good overall
Lovely hotel - quiet and peaceful, with a great pool. We walked to and From Florence city center each day - 30-35 minutes each way. Some of the staff were quite surly/ aggressive/ rude, but most we just lovely and really helpful.

One of the best hotels I ever stayed. Beautiful and luxury in every way. The surroundings are unreal in their beauty. Furnishing is superb, staff is very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant on the property is a must to try.

I’m comparing this stay with other stays I had in the beautiful country Italy. The property is ok, it’s clean and well maintained. However it’s way too overpriced. Examples: Room service fee: 35€ per order At dinner they charge you a head cover of 5€ per person Glass of wine (in Italy!!):15€ Very average pasta with veal: 30€ The dinner menu is very very limited and the food not great for Italian standards. The waiter we had didn’t speak a word English which made it very difficult to communicate with. Also if you have a small child which needs to go to bed before 8pm you’re at the wrong place as the restaurant opens at 7:30pm and they have no flexibility to find a solution for you unless you want to pay 35€ room service fee for a 15€ food order. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place and will not return.

A very disappointing stay. 5 star prices but experience so far from that. Walkway to our room was used as a laundry store and on arrival we were expected to climb over a hedge to get to access our room. Room service charge was extortionate [we didn’t use it] Hot foods for breakfast were cold as the heater was not turned on. However, the main problem which resulted in us leaving a day early was the appalling behaviour witnessed by a staff member at the pool.

The Villa we stayed at had ants all over the place. They had to come and spray the Villa to kill ants. Breakfast was really bad, not much to chose from. Restaurant had very short menu for dinner. Staff at the front were very nice and friendly. Would not go back again.

Lovely hotel. 15-20 min walk into lower part of town where you can get Taxi or 30 min walk to historic town. It’s a steep hill back so a taxi back from the square at the bottom of the hill is 5 euros. Hotel is very expensive to eat and drink but there are some wonderful places to eat not far in isirito santo 20 Mins walk.

A beautiful place about 1.5miles from downtown Florence. We took a taxi or walked into town at our leisure. Note, it is quite a climb from town to the Villa, but the views from the hills are absolutely worth the walk. Pool, accommodations, breakfast were wonderful.

Over 20years of travelling this was the most horrible experience. The fact that the building and rooms where nice does not compensate comically bad service. In pool bar of 5 star hotel ONE person was cleaning.. cooking.. waitering... servicing towels (which run out). 3 tables LEFT as their food did not arrive in 1.h20min. Breakfeast was a joke took over 1h for coffee. Lunch food was below any standard and nobofy od staff was able to fix the situation regardless of numerous complaints.

We booked this hotel for 5 nights and were not disappointed Fantastic views , extremely relaxed atmosphere and the staff truly can not do enough for you to make you comfortable... Our friends stayed in central florence but with the heat ... we were so pleased we stayed here so could have the best of both worlds and have a pool to dip in for few hours! Would definitely come back to Villa Tolomei ! It is only 5-10 mins into the centre in a taxi approx 16 euros and surrounded by vineyards and amazing views - a special place

Traditional hotel. Very clean. Friendly, accommodating staff. Lovely pool. Great restaurant. Could do with a few more electrical sockets in rooms. We had to charge our devices in the bathroom!

A OKAY with ME!
What can I say? You get what you pay for, and we paid quite a bit, but the place is very beautiful. it is situated among the Tuscan landscape. It is gorgeous all around. The WiFi access was phenomenal and the hotel staff did all they could to have us feel at home. I would only give a couple of suggestions: 1. when the guest is present, make it all about the guest. Clear the guest's table first before you clear and empty table. 2. this place probably does this already, but have staff meetings every morning to remind the staff that the guest is super important and as such, never let a moment of kindness pass. Other than that, no complaints! Great beautiful resort.

Good not great. Expectations were high based on pictures, reviews and 5 star rating. But when we got here, we found it to be a little disappointing. No greeting upon arrival. Room very very small, no ac and couldn’t open the windows as the dogs barking and noise from other rooms was too much. Our room backed onto the rooms next doors bathroom, so it meant we woke up every time they turned on the fan. We asked to turn on the ac but they couldn’t do so, despite everyone at breakfast complaining how hot it was. Dinner at restaurant was solid and would recommend, as well as breakfast. Overall, a good experience, but not a true 5 star and not worth the extra money.

Loved this hotel! The staff was friendly, the view is fantastic and the room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool and overlooking the city. Plan on taking a taxi if you want to visit the city center.

Villa Tolomei is good, not great. Let's call it a 3.5/5, give or take. Staff wasn't overly helpful. We stayed at a similar place in Tuscany that was very well served, and by comparison, this was not. Front desk people were typically camped out in the back office. Only one bellman/porter on staff at a time, it took forever to get anything. A/C was weak and blocked by a window sill. The room was nice and pretty big, so no complaints there. The bartender by the pool was a tad creepy, trying to be Mr. Slick, not realizing how off-putting it was. Buddy, people want to relax, not to hear about the Miami night clubs you've been to. Very buggy, and the front desk had no bug spray to offer besides one of the employee's personal bottles, which she was hesitant to share (and which may have not been real bug spray). Maybe nitpicking on that one, but again, we stayed at a similar place that sprayed semi-weekly for bugs and had spray on hand. Restaurant service was poor. Took forever to get things. At breakfast, a simple coffee took 15 minutes, and the servers were clueless at times. It is doable to walk down to the city in 25ish minutes, which was a nice perk. But you likely need a cab to get back up. This place isn't bad by any means, but for the money, it's just alright.
