“Quiet and pleasant”

The hotel is small, with about 10 rooms. It is an old house on a quiet street in a residential neighborhood, two blocks or so from Duval Street. Rooms are spacious and have high ceilings. The house may be old, but it is well maintained; the plumbing is new. The window air conditioning unit is relatively quiet, although I had to turn it off for the night. There is a small pool in the backyard, and a free breakfast is served next to it. I found this to be a nice and relaxing experience. Although, if it was raining, I may not have been so happy with it. The hotel is in the middle of the island, so if you expect to have an ocean view, this is not the right place for you. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the sunset celebrations spot. Parking around the hotel may be a problem since most of the spots are available to residents only, although I managed to grab a spot right by the entrance. Some hotels offer parking on the property, Blue Parrot does not have space for it, so street parking is the only option. Overall, I had a great time and would certainly consider staying there again when I visit Key West next time.

“hmmm.”

My stay was short here. Though this is my first time in a bed and breakfast, I expected a little more space. I did choose a room with a double, but I expected some more space to walk around the room. The bathroom was relatively clean. I say relatively clean because of the city itself I think these small little bugs are everywhere. I expected more though. Location is in the middle of old town, and I would say this great plus for this B&B.

“Perfect vacation hotel!”

The staff was exceptionally helpful and the facilities were clean, comfortable, and perfectly located. If I return to vacation in Key West, this is the only place I will stay!!

Area recommendations
A walk on Duval street and Whitehead street (historical district) are a must, as is an evening on Sunset Pier to watch the sun go down. Such beautiful colors!
Getting around
Street names are not always clearly displayed so have a map on hand.
What to pack
Lots of sunscreen and very light clothes that either minimize sweat or hide it. Very hot and exceptionally humid (traveled in August)
Dining
Havana 1 on Truman street has the most delicious food! Also probably the cheapest restaurant we visited. I had a ham and cheese stuffed grouper that was phenomenal and the tasty bread they serve is delivered fresh daily from a local bakery. Island Dogs offers excellent happy hour mojitos and their food is also quite good (try the bacon wrapped hot dog or nachos). Ambrosia has excellent sushi, but their other dishes were not nearly as impressive for the price. The Raw Bar on the pier by Turtle Kraals had the best fried calamari rings and their delicious oyster shooters are only 0.50 cents each (much cheaper than any other restaurant we went to).
Outdoors or beach
Take a drive up through some of the other keys. The best beach we went to was on Marathon (called Sombrero Beach at mile marker 50). We went in August and there was a lot of seaweed at many beaches (not sure if that is seasonal). Sombrero Beach had the least seaweed and no sulfur smell as did most of the others we visited. Visit the Dry Tortugas!!!!! This was the best trip! The civil war fort is very interesting and fun to walk around (we skipped the guided tour), and the snorkeling provided a plethora of fish (including baracuda and tarpons - both huge), colorful squid, and coral. The boat ride to the island is about 2-2.5 hours but if you watch the water off the side you can see a lot more sea life (turtles, sharks, flying fish, jelly fish).

“Great Key West hotel”

The AC was cold, the staff was helpful and the location was quiet. Perfect place to get out of the heat and away from the scene when you want to. The staff was very helpful during our stay and after. I left my shoes in the room and the staff helped get them mailed to me. Will definitely be staying again if ever I go back to Key West.

“Very modest room, but very homey”

The single room was very modest, but it was very clean. I liked the convenience, closeness and coziness of the little pool. I could easily walk to all the attractions in around Duval Street. The hotel manager was very friendly and helpful.

Area recommendations
Old Town area as that is where most of the historical and entertaining attractions are located.

“Nice, private and convenient”

The hotel was clean, however, there were ants in the bathroom that scattered when you turned the lights on...they didn't bother us but if bugs bother you. Joan was very helpful and made good suggestions about food, etc... The pool is small but was never an issue. Breakfast is only a bagel, coffee and juice. We would go back again!

Area recommendations
The State Park had a nice beach with a little snorkeling available. Breakfast at the quiet end of Duval on the ocean was very nice (Southermost Cafe).

“Tiniest room in Key West!”

I called the hotel directly and asked which of the two rooms that were avail at the time was best (Sunset or Caribbean), I was told Sunset (2B) and therefore booked it. The room was about 8x10!!! The smallest room I have ever slept in in my entire life. The rest of the property seemed nice, but we were only there about 10 hours to sleep so can't vouch for much. I would not spend the hundred and fifty nightly rate there ever again. The tv was a small tube - not even a flat panel. We were very disappointed. The pool was also very small. Location was pleasant though. Perhaps the other rooms are nicer/bigger as this place seems to have good reviews from others, which is why we chose it over others.

“A really tiny room”

The room was too small, there was no space to put my bag. More worse, there was a parking lot for just one car. I chose this inn because of the reviews, but now I think those were overstated.

“homey...would love to go back.”

Because of the flight, I was late arriving at the Inn. Called them from Atlanta and they told me how to get to my room. The foliage was beautiful. The room was clean and inviting. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here.
