Hidden

We werent in the Keys to hang out in a hotel room, so paying crazy Keys prices wasnt what we were looking for. Pips was nice and quaint. The staff was AWESOME!! The only issue we had was the noise from the adjoining room. We could hear most of their noises and they were night owls. If not for that, this place would have been A+.

Wonderful place.

Posted Jul 21, 2015
Pros: The fact that it was clean, friendly, and convenient.
Location: The location is great for boating, fishing, snorkeling, and diving.Very central to everything
The staff was great and very helpful. The accommodations are basic but we had everything we needed. The room was clean and comfortable with cold a/c. Very convenient for boating, fishing, snorkeling and close to good restaurants, shops and bars. The new pool felt great after a day out on the ocean. We will be staying there again for sure.

Beautiful, clean and home-feeling place, with a great price and in a good location. If you want to move away from busy touristy places this is perfect.

Large suite on the water with water views

Posted Jul 10, 2015
Pros: Clean with a friendly staff.
Cons: Eyewash improvements cost money and increase prices. Enjoy this for what it is.
Location: There are many restaurants and a Publix grocery near by.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our suite was clean and large with two double beds in the bedroom, which was itself larger than most hotel rooms. The kitchen was a full kitchen, not just a kitchenette, with a full size refrigerator/freezer large enough for a weeks supplies, although there is no need to stock up, with a Publix grocery nearby. The décor in general was painted brick and somewhat 60s, which didn't bother us but should be anticipated. The TV was a large modern digital flat panel. The WiFi was fast, solid, and free. This is an ideal place for those with a boat. The dock is just a few steps away within sight of the unit. Nearby is the Turtle Hospital that offers hour and a half tours of the Green Sea turtles, and Loggerheads. Also on Marathon is the Dolphin Research Center where we interacted in the water with one of Flipper's descendants. The Keys in general are still a little retro funky, so these units blend in with that mood. It is not a Marriott Resort with Marriott pricing, so should not be compared on that basis. .

Room great but property not so much....

Posted Jul 7, 2015
Room was super clean and modern. The lady in the front office was a bit rude and whispered to her co-worker as we left to show us to our room. Made us feel very uncomfortable. Pool deck was a disaster filthy dirty gazebo and tables. They have their pool chairs in rocks. Walking to pool you have to walk by other fenced areas that are full of piled up debris. No good spot to sit and look at ocean. Porkys restaurant right there on property is overpriced and very slow.

The best value in Marathon Key

Posted Jun 28, 2015
Pros: Location, personable staff, cleanliness/comfort, affordable rates.
Cons: Hair dryer was not provided. Also no complimentary breakfast; you'd have to drive a few miles to an IHOP or similar.
Location: Located near the western end of Marathon Key, just off the Seven Mile Bridge. Right next to various boating facilities.
This place is very convenient for those who want easy access to the various recreational activities at the western end of Marathon Key. It's not that hard to find if you follow the mile markers along the highway; Pips is located at MM 47.5, directly across from a Mobil gas station. The staff was very cordial and attentive to my needs; the owner personally showed me to my room when I checked in. I stayed in the Garden Guest Room which was very clean, spacious, and well-maintained; housekeeping is done at set days of the week, with sheets and towels replaced. Amenities included a full-size fridge, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, even a wheeled cooler with beach towels. The guest houses are all located along a private road, and I could park my car right next to mine.

The place is old and in a weird location.

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: The pool, the view from the boat dock and the outside area in front of room with hammock was relaxing.
Cons: Could use some updating.
Location: boating, parasailing
We had a hard time finding the office since it's a storage shed. After checking in, we were told to drive toward an old sign and then make a left down a small road which looked like an alley and the room would be on our left. We met the office manager at the room and she was very friendly. She showed us where everything in the room was and how to work the tv. She also gave us directions to the pool.
