Lovely, quiet locationPosted Nov 27, 2013
Pros: Location, beach, kayak & ambience
Cons: General maintainance & cleanliness
Location: Remote but plenty of eating places & tourist attractions within 30 miles
Couldn't fault the ambience of the place, very laid back & peaceful. However, the cottages could do with a makeover & a good clean. Ours was quite cramped & cutlery & crockery were in short supply. Breakfast provided was adequate. Be prepared to drive for any provisions/coffee/dinner. Despite all of the above we enjoyed our stay as it was so different & quirky.

LOVED our stay at the Conch Key Cottages!Posted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: Location, amenities, value, excellent service.
Location: Stand up paddle boarding, Key's Fisheries restaurant, 7 mile bridge, Pigeon Key Island
I booked our room back in July but a week or two before arrival had to amend the reservation and add an extra person (making a total of 4). The room we had had a sofabed in the living room so I thought it would be able to fit all of us and left that part of the reservation as is. When my fiance and I arrived to check-in, the owner told us she went ahead and upgraded us (free of charge) because she was concerned about our comfort. On top of that, we arrived at least 5 hours prior to check-in and were still allowed to check-in anyway! Also, the owner provided us with a packet of extremely useful information about water activities, things to do and see in the Keys, restaurants, etc. that played an active part in making our trip in the Keys amazing. We are so grateful to her for being such a sweetheart! As if that's not enough, the resort offers free sea kayaking, a pool, breakfast. The cottage we stayed in had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean, large patio, outdoor area to grill/lounge.. I could go on and on. We would definitely consider coming back to Conch Key Cottages on our next trip to the Keys! :)

Nice relaxing getawayPosted Nov 1, 2013
Pros: Location, out of the way and remote and on the water.
Cons: Our only disappointment was the kitchen was not fully stocked as advertised. There was no pizza pan, steak/sharp knives, proper grilling tools ,etc.
Location: Bahia Honda State Park, loved the Turtle Hospital in Marathon. Ask for the activity sheet at the front desk...good recommendations.
If you are looking for lots of people, activities and nightlife this is not the place. Our criteria was a nice out of the way relaxing getaway on the water and Conch Key Cottages certainly was right on target. The cottages are nice, clean, remote and the area is close to restaurants in Marathon. We stayed for 7 nights in October and for the most part did not run into many other guests. We stayed in Cats Eye and the unit is small and as they indicate right for 2 people not 4 unless they maybe children. There are no elevators, long lines, crossing a roadway to get to the ammenities and traffic in the complex.

Serene SurroundingsPosted Oct 18, 2013
Pros: The friendly service from all of the staff, as well as the great air conditioning! Read our experiences to find out more about our enjoyable visit.
Cons: The facility could use some TLC to update fixtures throughout the units, such as sinks and counters.
Location: Read about our experience to learn about some of the local and nearby attractions, including things to do on the property.
These cottages are nestled outside Marathon, FL and invite relaxation and offer comfortable surroundings. The present facilities are adequate, and with some TLC from a new owner, they should increase their ratings in the facilities category. We were impressed with the management and housekeeping staff, and their personal attention makes the establishment an inviting place to stay while visiting the Florida Keys. Its handy location to popular sites, such as the Dolphin Research Center, Pigeon Key Cove, and the World Wide Sportsman in Islamorada is a bonus. Plan to bring some of your own food, but other kitchen necessities are provided. Continental breakfast was available every morning and sustained us until lunchtime. Kayaks are available for guests. Just bring a fishing pole for some added fun. We hope that some fishing gear will be available for the guests in the future, since it is hard to bring poles along if you flew into the area. Overall, you will appreciate the serene surroundings offered by these cottages.

Separate cottages very close to the beach.Posted Oct 10, 2013
Pros: See above.
Location: Conch Key is a small island towards the middle of The Keys. It is very conveniently located for multiple water activities.
Wife and I arrived at our private cottage 100 feet from the water, squeezed some of the oranges provided, drank the juice, and headed out for an hour of snorkeling. We had an enjoyable dinner at a restaurant from the list provided by hotel staff. The next day we used the free hotel kayaks, swam in the pool, explored some of the keys south of Conch, ate in another fine restaurant, and topped off the evening at a local movie theater. On day three we squeezed a few more oranges, downed a complimentary roll and yogurt and departed. The staff members were friendly and helpful. We plan to return.

Beautiful, quiet place in the keys! Awesome gem!Posted Oct 9, 2013
Pros: Staying on the water, the complimentary kayaks, and our own personal aquarium!
Cons: Nothing, I enjoyed all aspects of my visit.
Location: It was really nice and quiet in the area, we didn't really need to leave much. Many restaurants and places to visit are about a 15 min a drive away
We had a 2 night stay here and it was a blast! The room was the perfect size. Every room had their own grill, which was nice if you had a good catch from fishing. You can fish right out of the marina area, plenty of beautifully colored marine life. Such as; puffer fish, sharks, eels, parrot fish, jellyfish and so much more! We took the complimentary kayaks out from the beach to the lagoon. It was a nice beautiful sunrise. The water is pristine and clear enough to do some snorkeling. The staff was very hospitable & helpful. They offered continental breakfast, room service every morning and made sure we had exactly what we needed. Key West is about 1.5 hrs drive, which was not too bad for sight seeing, shopping, and a small pub crawl. If you're looking for a low key hotel to relax, this is the place for you! I was more than pleased with my experience and can not wait to return!

Very privatePosted Sep 12, 2013
Pros: Privacy, hammocks and great palm trees, wildlife.
Cons: Cleanliness of the room / Cleaning staff.
Location: Some local beaches nearby, food choices and restaurants in the area are almost all bad.
I found my stay here to be a great one, mainly because its really private! My main gripe with the place was the cleaning staff did a pretty poor job cleaning before we got there.

Nice placePosted Sep 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
The cottages were just the kind of place we were looking for. Quiet, tucked away, hammocks everyehere, nice pool, and landscaped well. The private beach is nice for launching the kayaks that are provided, but is not much of a swimming beach. Really enjoyed our stay!

Idyllic!!Posted Aug 16, 2013
Conch Key Cottages is an idyllic place - loved it here. Stayed in Cats Eye cottage - just big enough for family of four. The cottages themselves are sweet and authentically cottagey - don't expect up market fixtures and fittings - that's not the point. What makes this place so perfect is the laid back atmosphere, the helpful but unobtrusive staff, the fantastic breakfast and all the environment: great decking area with tiki hut where you can swim from, private beach with kayaks and pretty swimming pool. We stayed for three days and had a fabulous time.

Disappointing housekeepingPosted Aug 7, 2013
Lovely location, great views, spacious cottages, sweet pool, helpful front desk but very poor housekeeping. The cottage was not cleaned properly when we checked in to the point where the sheets had very recent food crust which appeared to be dried ketchip. The dishwasher had not been emptied from the last guests and cleaning equipment was left lying around. Housekeeping will not clean unless you specifically ask them to and even then, they will only do the bare minimum and only what you specifically ask them to - eg, they wont even make the bed unless asked to nor did they empty the kitchen garbage cans which clearly had old food that would start to smell. I would go back just for the peace of the property but for no more than a night or two.
