Construction Site

Posted Aug 25, 2014
There was no word of the Construction, I, to my admission did not check the reviews as I have stayed there before and really enjoyed it. Wow, its changing and not necessarily for the better. When we got there, there was no access to the hotel from Duval Street with the car, they are doing some major work on the entrance using a lot of jack hammers....you know were that's going. Foot access during the day is thru Starbucks, its kinda weird. At night they open a path thru the construction to the main entrance. We drove around the back and still couldn't in, my girlfriend eventually jumped out and had to run into the hotel to find out how we get the car in. Basically do a 360 around the hotel when you get roughly 300o degrees turn left. We were told at check in that the pool was closed but would be open tomorrow ...yeah right we thought, but no it was to their credit...so as of the 22nd August their new pool deck and bar is open. The new look downstairs in the lobby is very dark, lots of ebony colored panels.....not my cup of tea and a new bar. The rooms are the same pretty much but the noise from the construction every morning was not fun....NOT FUN....even on Saturday morning. We weren't there on Sunday morning so I can't say whether they were working 7 days per week. All in All I would check reviews from time to time if you are thinking of going and see were they are at with finishing construction until then I would give it a miss. No mention on their website btw.

Nice hotel close to everything

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The only negative thing I have to report is the construction. If you wanted to sleep in it was difficult.

Nice hotel close to all the action

Posted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Great location
Location: Lots of shops nearby and restaurants. Easy walk to all of our water sport activities.
I stayed at this hotel for the week of July 4th. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Best hotel I stayed at in Key West so far.

Previously, we have had nicer and more comfortable rooms. They included a sofa that reduced the space. We didn't have a chest with drawers. There were two small tables on the side of the sofa that didn't open. No coffee available in room. Now valet parking mandatory. Entrance under construction. Staff was very courteous and helpful.

Being a Historic hotel, La Concha has several different sized guest rooms but most guests spend their time outside the hotel. We hope you were able to enjoy all the amenities of the hotel and we will have more soon including a New Rooftop Spa!!! We hope to see you back soon!

Great location and stay

Posted Aug 14, 2014
Booked this hotel about a lot of back and forth between hotel vs smaller B and B type places. I am so glad I chose this hotel. My room was updated, clean and quite comfortable. The staff was really nice and the valet service could not have been easier. That being said, I parked my car at arrival and walked everyplace until the day I left. You can walk it everywhere- lighthouse, Hemingway house, Truman little White House, Malory square, the wharf. And of course, you are on Duvall street. You can pop in a couple stores and quick stash your things in your room. It was so easy. I didn't have a problem sleeping there, although the toilets are quite loud when they flush (commercial toilets in a hotel room=loudness). The breakfast was good too. If you want to be in the middle of I all, stay here!

Not what you would expect from Crown Plaza

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: The location is great.
Cons: They should be honest and post on their web page that the hotel in under construction.
We arrive to find that the hotel is under construction. You need to enter the hotel from the side of the building and the pool is closed. No where on the web page was there any mention that the hotel was under construction. We went to Key West to spend sometime with family and relax by the pool, only to find out at our arrival that the pool was closed. The hotel's solution for the pool was busing us 15 minutes away from Duval street to one of their sister hotels. One of the reason we paid top dollar to be on Duval street be in the heart of Key West. Then there is the matter of the room, the air conditioner never got colder then 74. What paid extra for a Junior Suite, but it's was really no bigger then a double room. All in all what we thought was going to be the prefect weekend turned out to be just ok.

Our son's celebration at La concha

Posted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Only the location.
Cons: They should not have been doing this amount of renovation without posting it in advance or deeply discounting room rates while doing these changes.
Location: Enjoy the sites of Key West.
We were terribly disappointed in our stay at La Concha in Key West. We were not told in advance that the hotel was undergoing major renovations and it certainly was! There was no pool and absolutely no way to sit around any of the patios. They wer jack hammering the entire front entrance to the hotel which went on from 8 AM until late afternoon. When I requested an adjustment in what we had paid for such inconvenience, I was told that it would be forth coming. It was not at the time that I checked out. We enjoyed our time with our son and his family, but spent the entire time out of the room dur to the noise. It should have been closed for this amount of renovation. Overall, I will never recommend it or stay there again.

Thank you for your Review and although we have some modifications being done, which should be complete in the next 10-14 days we have tried to make exceptions at our "sister" properties Pools due to some of the unexpected closure such as our Pool. We hope you visit us again soon to experience all the new amenities we will have to offer!!!

I'm sad.

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Positive: location. Negative: Communication about the fact that: 1. Construction works (and thus noise) takes place on the hotel; 2. The pool is closed (especially when beaches are rare and day temperature is high). Both things should have been mentioned on the booking web page or by mail or something, al least before I was standing in front of the check-in desk! After my stay I read what other visitors wrote about this hotel. What strikes me most is that I think that it is really sad that these points have been mentioned numerous times on this webpage and management of this hotel apparently looks the other way. 'Customer satisfaction' is probably under constructies as well. Hope it finishes some day soon.
