Family Vacation at Hawks Cay

Posted Apr 4, 2015 on Hotels
Very nice resort, food was not that great, systems were down which prevented us from doing things that week. Overall a lovely spot with lots of staff, very family friendly and tons of kids.

Be aware of Hawks cay villas

Posted Jan 4, 2015
Pros: The food was good and there were a lot activities.
Cons: Villas need to be updated.
Location: Great location....a little hard to get to.
You need to know that the villas are individually owned here. It does not seem that there are any standards that the owners are held to. Our villa was very dirty and in need of serious maintenance. The carpet was dirty. The bath tiles were broken. We could not tell if the sofa was orange or brown. The decor was a mix of 80's beach and grandma with lace valences. I can deal with outdated decor but accommodations need to be clean and maintained. The kids Had fun and there is a lot to do! The food was really good. The dolphin experience was great! If we had a nicer villa I think it would have been a nice place to stay.

Wonderful vacation with three teenage sons

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff
Location: Many opportunities for deep sea fishing, parasailing, diving, diving lessons, great restaurants - all at the resort, much more within a short drive
Hawk's Cay Resort is a wonderful experience. The property we rented there by Duck Key Vacation rentals was comfortable and accommodating for our family of 5. Our three teenage sons were also happy with the activities available, though it would be nice if teen night were offered more than just on the weekends. Diving in the Keys was a great experience. Would have loved to go deep sea fishing, we almost did but when we reached our fishing destination the seas were too rough, but it was a nice ocean ride out to the spot and we were fully refunded what we paid to go deep sea fishing. We would love to return to this resort and will recommend it to everyone we know.

Nice resort, but overpriced

Posted Dec 6, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Service, amenities
Location: Great fishing, water sports, relaxing
Stayed in the Vacation rentals. Rooms overpriced at $369 per - but nice location on bay. Light bulbs out, amenities lacking, but good location in the keys to get down to Key West or fish. Not quite 1st class service, but the place has potential. My first experiance at Duck Key over 6 years ago much better. Next time I will search around before settling here

Beautiful place but hidden fee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: The central location was great! We also loved the Dolphin Encounter.
Cons: They need to let people know about the $200 a day fee!
Location: The location is beautiful and its easy to make it a day excursion to anywhere in the Keys!
First of all it we did enjoy our stay but ONLY after we got checked in. We did know about the $35 a day resort fee but we had no clue about the $200 a day fee that has to be on a credit card for what you "may use at the resort". After arguing and finally agreeing to a $100 credit, and giving them a credit card to place $50 on (btw we got it all back because we staid in a villa and NOT the resort because it we used the full kitchen in the villa) we were told we were upgraded to a marina villa from a sunset villa. We were early and the told us we would get a call when it was ready closer to 4pm (check-in). We never got a call and after we came back closer to 5pm we were told that we were moved back into a sunset villa and not the upgrade because the upgrade was down for repairs. NOT OK!!!!!!!! I had been up since 2am so we could get to the airport. I just wanted to rest. After another 35 minute argument we were finally got the upgrade and it was nice. We never used anything but the pool once and we swam in the salt water pool every night! We were in love! The view was great, the villa was quiet, and the villa offered everything we needed but we did have to get inventive with the very basic cooking utensils. Saved a ton of $$$$ buy cooking for ourselves. The Dolphin Encounter was a great deal.

The unit we had was in need of updating. The pull out sofa was worn. There was rust in one of the bathroom sinks. The siding glass doors were very difficult to open and close

New managment needed

Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Pretty area, and cool lagoon pool.
Cons: Management and more staff.
Tried to check in at 2pm but room did not get ready until 6:20pm. Many others complaining about the same thing. Whole resort is in need of maintanance. The dock by boat fuel colapsed while we we were there.

Prettig resort met vele activiteiten

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Het comfort van het appt. De recreatiemogelijkheden: tennis, beachvolley. duikschool etc.
Cons: Mogelijkheid creeren tot zwemmen in zee en snorkelen.
Location: Ligt 2/3 richting Key West (90 km). Auto is absoluut noodzakelijk.
