“Gilberts”
Hotel is nice. Food at Tiki bar was very good. Only complain I have is the rooms are a litle old and could be updated and the mosquitoes were horrible!! Otherwise, nice trip.
“Gilbert's Resort”
No frills, but all the comforts you need at a very affordable price. Incredible location, with mornings on the dock right out the back door. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Entertainment was decent, and a very short boat ride across to the neighboring resort (although a long walk).
“Hotel Gives Expedia a Bad Name!”
Our Shower had a half used Shampoo Bottle in it. The refrigerator was rusted out, and the paint in the shower was peeling. This was after we asked to be moved from the first room which was in WORSE shape. The locale is absolutely beautiful. The front dest staff were more than cordial and helped as much as they could. This is an example of a hotel that is in disrepair and needs major work and TLC. We paid $110/night If you are a bachelor, maybe a night or two. Families PLEASE pay a couple of extra dollars and drive down the road to a more reputable establishment.
“A good deal if you have a boat and just need a cheap place to stay for the night”
The room itself was very old and felt dirty. We got a good deal, so it wasn't as bad as it could be, but it was not the greatest. The grounds itself were nice enough though. Good band playing and nice outdoor tiki bar. I would only suggest it if you need a cheaper place to just stay the night.
“Hotel was nice. but needs some modernizing.”
The hotel has a nice tiki bar, on the beach, with good food and drinks. The hotel has a nice restaurant with a good menu. Several sail boats were tied up at the dock on the back of our room; very picturesque. The hotel was a very good value for the price.
“What a dive!”
This hotel needs LOTS of updating/repairs. The surroundings are nice in that it's on a peninsula but the locks on the doors didn't work, one of the doors was broken, there was NO HOT WATER (was told that the whole hotel functions off of one burner), the bathroom was falling apart, the mattresses were like sleeping on bricks and the TV in the room was like a 13". They do have a cool tiki bar and the food was OK. There is NOTHING around there though.
“Nice Location Terrible Room”
The room was terrible. The bed was a 3/4 inch plywood with a 4 inch hard mattress. the Television was a 19" with no remote and no cable. This was not a worth the money a night Hotel Room. We stayed only one night and because we cancelled the next night we were charged a cancellation fee which was not right. The sad part is the location was live an oasis. The grounds were great. The people, guests and Hotel staff were awesome The rooms are terrible though. Our experience in the Keys was not a good one. We will probably not visit there again.
“mixed feelings”
Great restaurant, eclectic TIKI BAR, only issue I had was no hot water and the staff was less than helpful, and sarcastic when brought to their attention
“Can't wait to go back to Gilbert's.”
Great place, Great food, Great Tiki bar.
“Most low budget I have been to”
Well painted but not clean.
