Great location and private

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Location and the private cottages
Cons: Parking
We loved staying at the guesthouse. I was with my 20 year old daughter and my 80 year old parents. It was perfect for all of us... Spacious and allotted us our privacy and was just one street away from all the action :)

Authentic keys b&b

We stayed in a room overlooking the road but it was nice and quiet and the deck was wonderful. The room was nice and cool with beautiful high ceilings and beams. It was a very traditional room but uncluttered and smart. The garden area had a small pool and lots of lush vegetarian. Perfect after a humid day walking up and down Duval.

Very convenient accommodations

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Pros: Parked car on street and didn't move it for 3 days. Continental breakfast was very nice, sat outside on lovely patio
Cons: Our room was very tiny, but sacrificed room for convenience.
Location: It was in walking distance to everything we wanted to do .
Our first visit to Key West. 3 days we saw everything we wanted to see- Was disappointed in the Glass Bottom boat. Really couldn't see much.

Great Location

Well situated Inn - close enough to the action but far enough away for a quiet nights sleep. The smaller size pool was still very refreshing and the host and hostess accommodating.

Old Key West Charm

Posted Apr 8, 2014
Pros: The patio charm
Cons: Beds were not super comfortable
Location: Perfect location for walking to Duvall Street, Hemingway's House, and waterfront. Wonderful restaurants nearby.
The patio garden area is just beautiful....that is why I booked this location, as well as its proximity to the center of old town. They have a really nice breakfast and it is just so pleasant to sit outside for breakfast, or late in the afternoon with a glass of wine. I do, however, prefer more modern accommodations, but if you like old style charm, this is the place to stay.

Good experience. Nice location.

Pros: Merlin Guesthouse is in a great location. Breakfast provided consisted of bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit and coffee/juice. Loved the cat, Jordan.
Cons: Our room #6 was small. Bathroom was right next to the bed and offered no privacy due to a shutter type door. Thank goodness for poolside bathroom :)
Location: Great location. Definitely recommend renting bicycles to get around. We rode the bike path around the island. Would highly recommend that.
Stayed 5 nights at Merlin Guesthouse in room #6 facing Simonton Street from March 26-31, 2014. Enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Only thing that could have been better is the room size. Folks at the guesthouse were very helpful and friendly. Jordan del Gato was a pleasure to see each day. Ate at some good places. Would definitely recommend Caroline's Cafe. I had the Santa Fe Salad and my friend had the burger. He said it was the best he ever had and it was huge! Salad was very good too. Way too big! Ohhhh ... Make sure you get a Frozen Monkey on Duvall Street and get the refillable cup. They are delicious! I had Mud Slide ... Yum! Butterfly Sanctuary sounds boring but it's worth the visit. Beautiful inside! We rented bicycles on Truman Street for 4 days. Rode them everywhere and had a wonderful time. Great sunset at Zachary Taylor park - nice and romantic away from the crowd. Will return to Key West and Merlin Guesthouse.

Nice but noisy

Posted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: Convenience. Friendly atmosphere.
Cons: See comments above. Would recommend this location only if a room at the rear of the hotel is available.
Location: Close to Duval Street where everything is happening.
Great location, great continental breakfast, lovely grounds. Our room was located on the porch which was right on the street. The room and bathroom were quite small. Thankfully we were travelling with carry-on type luggage as there is no space for larger baggage. Unfortunately it was very noisy throughout the two nights while we were there as there was a lot of traffic noise right outside our room (i.e. Motorcycles, EMS vehicles, heavy trucks, etc..) in addition to the noise of the room's air cooling system. So while we did enjoy the Merlin, we didn't feel rested when we left.
