I’m rarely THAT customer but for your benefit I feel I need to be. We travel frequently and do not require a lot or expect a lot unless I’m paying a premium. Before securing our reservation, I did my due diligence which turned out to be very misleading. The hotel location is ideal for traveling the keys. The pool and hot tub looked nice. The beach is beautiful but the water isn't easily accessible. There are large rough rocks lining the beach along the water. There were several piles of scrap lumber/demolition around the grounds. Parking is not ideal. They hired a couple to paint the fences. Everything around the fences was white. Trees, walkways, flowers, mulch…and no wet paint signs (which we found out the hard way). The room was very small, smelly and HOT. They were using a portable AC unit to cool the room that only blew hot air. I was able to repair the wall unit. After and hour, we had cool air. The room was dirty, cracks in the wall, extension cords running to the fridge, fake flower pedals under the bed covered in dirt and hair, bathroom fixtures falling out of the wall. BUT the shower was very nice! The door to the room wouldn’t close unless it was slammed very hard. The bolt lock didn’t lock.
Free breakfast: We are easy going and take most issues in stride, especially when it’s included. After a couple bites of out bfast my gf made a comment that summed up the entire stay. All she said was, “I think they pay people to give them great reviews”.
